42" X42GV-Komodo 42" LCD HDTV Sceptre, $899.99

The 37" didn't list out HDMI port in the spec but does said in the text "UP TO 1080P SIGNAL THROUGH HDMI PORT". So it got HDMI?

Careful of that... some of these screens state that they support a 1080P signal, but they are not true 1080P resolution screens and just downscale the signal or something.

Costco has the same deal for $999 shipped out the door and they add an extra year for the warranty meaning its 2 years vs. 1. They changed their return policy to 90 days but thats more than the other vendors.

I have one of these and I must say its great for the performance vs price ratio. Picture quality is nice and bright esp in HD. 😀

How's the viewing angles? A family member is interested in going with a LCD above fireplace in living room, so needs decent range to view from slightly below and to both sides. I have a 27" Westinghouse in the bedroom, but it gets very washed out when viewing from more than about 35degrees each side of center.

This set has great viewing angles. We have it angled in the family room in the corner and we can see the screen when we are even in the kitchen which I say is more than 130ish degrees to the right.

The HD pic quality is amazing. The standard digital channels are also great although people complain about them. I also feel the sound quality is good too. Not HT good but good. I hardly have to turn the volume pass 6-7 for it to be plenty loud.

The family is loving this lcd tv for cable tv viewing as well as dvd playing.

Great deal, imho from Costco.

Well considering the set has a 1366 x 768 resolution, of course its downscaling both 1080i and 1080p.

The PQ is still sweet, imho. Besides no stations is broadcasting 1080's at this time anyhow.

Actually, there are a few stations broadcasting in 1080i, on Cable and OTA.

You can use 1080p as a computer monitor resolution. In this case, it just a matter of what the difference in quality is between this and a true 1080p set running off a comp and then the price difference.
