42 inch computer monitor?!

I was looking for deals on cheap monitors on craigslist.com in my area and I found a guy selling a 42 inch monitior for 100 dollars. This was the description...Large Computer Monitor, 42 - $100

This Monitor is by JVC. It is approx eight years old. It is a 42" screen. Very heavy. These sold for just over $5,000 eight years ago. Buyer will need a dolly to help move it. Very heavy!!!

I couldn't find a single trace of this monitor existing on the internet. I was maybe even considering it for gaming, even though the resolution would be much too high. The guy is going to send me pictures and the model number tommorow. For 100 dollars, is this monitor worth any of my time. Playing games with a monitor that huge would be quite "interesting."

It's most likely crap. Maybe a 640x480 or 800x600 presentation screen. Bear in mind that with CRTs there is a real limit above which one can't make a decent CRT because the electron gun can't focus at the corners. This is why huge CRT televisions use projection technology rather than direct-view.

The guy said "I have the BNC cables that go with it, they were custom made at a connector supply company in Redmond."

I guess go check it out and see what you think...

Moving a 36" wega was an experience I never want to have again. If this 42" is significantly heavier you're in for a treat 😛.

Everett, WA? You live like 10 minutes away from me.

The cable is likely HD15 Male to 5 BNC. That would make a great MAME monitor I bet.

Where I used to work, they had a 30" (I think) NEC monitor that looked awesome. They used it for presentations and before they started using it, they had a hardrive full of nature videos, and they looked fantastic on it. It had about every connector I had ever seen on the rear panel.

I must have weighed over 200 lbs, and was every deep for it's screen size. You'll need a forklift for a 42"!

My 27" Sony Wega TV weight 95lbs, my friend's 32" Sony HDTV weight 150lbs, so...
that might weight even more than 200lbs as it's really old technologies.

36" wega was something like 210.

Does JVC even make monitors? I went to thier website and was searching for any hint of a computer monitor and it seemed like they only sell and have sold television sets. I may be mistaken.
