Ok, I got a very strange problem....

I have an ABIT KT7A with 1.4ghz Tbird, Alpha 8045 with 50cfm YS Tech fan.

When I have the case open...My max load is 38 c adn I can run Priome 95 for 24+ hours

But when I close my case...Whenever the temp reaches 41C, The system bombs out, reboots , locks and the who package....

I know I obviously have an air flow problem but
I have read people able to run things up to 50 C, why can't I go past 41c?

Please give me your thoughts...

That seems really strange. 41c is definitely NOT too hot. You CAN run your cpu at 50c without danger.

50c is not ideal of course, but it's not dangerous. At 55 I'd get worried, but at your temps you should be fine.

41c is fine, so that's probably not your problem. It's possible that something else is overheating, maybe your RAM or your video card. Try adding some more case fans if your case has spots for them, as it definitely sounds like an airflow problem.

check if ur heatsink seating is being seated correctly. And check if the chipset heatsink gets really hot or not.

Case specs? Cooling setup? You could try reseating the heatsink with a nice layer of ASII...I'm running a 1.33 GHz Athlon using the PAL8045 at 35 degrees celsius, so it CAN be done. I managed to OC this thing with some stability issues (trying to work them out) to about 1.52 GHz at around 43 degrees celsius. I think the ASII is doing the trick. I'm using an Antec SX1040B with four ~35 CFM case fans, two intake, two exhaust, and the Panaflo 40CFM/32.1 DBa fan on the PAL.

Also, you might want to check whether your fan is SUCKING off of the heatsink (i.e. blowing air off of the HS). That is the way Alpha designed it, and it usually means lower temperatures in general.

I think your case temp is getting too high and causing your RAM or Video card to overheat.

All that heat removed by that l337 Alpha needs to get sent somewhere........
