40GB iPod isn't gonna cut it anymore

Has to have:

1. 60GB+ storage space
2. Good sound quality

Would be nice:

1. CF Card slot

Doesn't need:

1. Good battery life
2. Video capability
3. WiFi

Any other bells and whistles would be a bonus as far as I'm concerned. What would you guys suggest? I'm not necessarily adverse to another iPod, but I'd like to hear what else is available? Also, is there anything coming out I should wait for? I can wait a while if needed.

get a zune, even though it exceeds your needs.

zune 60GB is a decent choice. also the 80GB ipod classic.

Does anyone have experience with the Cowon A3 or Q5W?

Both come in 60GB flavors and have similar specs.

Have you checked the price tags on those? The Q5W I know is expensive and the A3 is what $400 for the 60GB?

I don't know that waiting will change much. Most companies are waiting for 16 and 32GB flash drives to get cheap enough to put in their main players I think. The whole market seems to be moving away from hard drives, so capacities will actually probably only get smaller.

Cowon and Creative possibly might be working on high capacity players that would actually compete with the iPod and Zune, but no one knows for sure if they are or when.

Both the Zune and iPod are pretty decent. You might see if you can snag a Zen Vision: W somewhere, it was up to 60GB and I believe had a CF card slot. Might be expensive, then again you might find a great deal on one. Of course you could try the same with some players that have been discontinued (Zen Vision: M, Cowon X5/X5L, etc).
