Anyone here know or seen if its possible to get an Athlon 1.4 T-bird to go less or equal to 40c? I got a Swiftech MC462-A HSF with Sanya Denki Fan + AS2 and i was able to achieve 1.4@1543 doing 10.5x147 at 50C under super load with Vcore at 1.85 using A7M266 Motherboard. My case temp is 30C and my room temp is 25C. However, im not satisfied with my temp being 50C and I really want to raise my FSB to 150+ to see if i can try to get a 1600 or higher overclock. What can I do to lower temps and get higher OC's, btw, how the hell do you guys get 35-38C using the Swiftech MC462A, i would like to know how.

I have the Epox with a 1.4 @ 1600 with the Swiftech 462-A.

My temp right now are 21c/69f MB temp - 37c/98f CPU @ 1.88volts.

I even replaced the fan with the 50cfm one from Adda to lower the noise down to 40db.

Arctic Silver ver 1 and I lapped my HS with 2000 grit wet.....

I think that about covers it....

I haven't tried to turn up the front bus yet....it's still at 133/266.

If only it was that simple. It's not. With TonyB's ambient temps, it will be damn near impossible with an aircooled heatsink. For a review of the reasons why, go to overclockers.com and read their review of the swiftech 462 with the sanyo fan. They also include figures with the 68cfm delta. It is basic. An aircooled heatsink will only cool so much. If you are in a hot environment(high case temps), your cpu will run hotter than if you are in a cooler environment. With a case temp of 30c and an overclocked cpu producing a minimum of 85 watts, he more than likely will never see a 40c cpu temp with an aircooled setup. The math: swiftech 462 c/w=.18 with a delta 68cfm fan. 85w x .18 = 15.3. 15.3 + 30=45c. With the sanyo fan: c/w=.20 85w x .20=17 17+30=47c He is reporting a temp of 50c. Bottom line=He needs to operate in a cooler environment or not o/c in order to achieve 40c or less. I would seriously doubt that any fan would do the trick.
