If you are a T-mobile user, go to upgrade and you might get this for $16.80 x 24 months.
It say that you can pay it all for $403 but when you do it shows $499+tax=shipping.
Installments will get you $403+ tax shipping.
This is a hell of a deal considering the same 32mb Nexus 5 will cost you exactly the same.
Yeah I know you can get used stuff for cheaper but I'm so weary of blacklisted IMEI that I don't bother.

- Man I'm a cheap bastard. I was about to check out when I see that its $6.99 for shipping and I backed off. Will probably buy anyway.
I have a Nexus 5 now. BLACK or WHITE version ?????

Why upgrade from a Nexus 5 to G2? Bigger battery?

I'd rather have the google phone personally.

Bigger screen, much bigger battery, better camera in the same size form factor.
For the same price, its a no brainer.
Oh and my wife needs an upgrade from the One S so I will give my wife the Nexus 5.

As someone who has had both the Nexus 5 and G2, I will say that the battery difference is VERY noticeable. Nexus 5 was like other typical phones that were dead by the end of the day. The G2 lasts me 2 days no problem with over 5 hours of screen on time.

I don't like the weird button placement or glossy plastic on the LG G2.

The soft touch matte finish on the Nexus 5 feels nice and doesn't leave a fingerprint mess. And I'm just in love with it's simple and elegant design. I really hope Google sticks with this matte style on Nexus devices for a while longer.

The back of the Nexus 5 is definitely my favorite of any phone ever. The G2 does indeed have one of the worst backs. I never use cases but I had to for this phone just because of how slimy the back feels.

I was worried about the plastic back before buying the (white) G2, but its been a massive relief to me in real life. Surprisingly fingerprint and muck resistant in my experience.

Make sure you root the G2 to get a shrunk (or swipe-hidden) nav bar, lower PPI setting for smaller default content displaying and the LG G Flex's splitscreen multi-app mode that works with ALL apps.

The G2 is really a nice phone. I was very surprised (have HTC One, Galaxy S4, and Motorola X in the family to compare) at the fluidity and especially the battery life.

The 5.2" LCD is a pleasant surprise too. Gets pretty bright, and the blacks are deep (though not as low as the S4).

The rear buttons bothered me in the beginning, but I use knock on/off instead now, so it's a virtual non-issue for me.

The slippery back sucks, bad. However, a $1-2 skin solved that issue without increasing thickness or weight.

The camera is hit and miss, IMHO. Great specs hampered by poor software. Rooting and installing an Xdabbeb's camera helped, but doesn't totally fix the issue. Sometimes you take great pictures, and other times, it's meh. The video "breathing" issue is pretty much solved, but focus isn't perfect.

On-screen navigation buttons is really annoying for me, since I use a gesture keyboard, but that's not going to be an issue for everyone.

I'm so used to my G2 and tapping the screen to wake it, I find myself doing the same with my Kindle or iPad if I'm distracted. Wish it was offered on other devices, even devices I use all the time have awkwardly placed buttons.

That's about what it's worth, not some crazy deal IMO. Remember we're in spitballing distance of the next gen.

LG said they will be keeping the knock on/off feature with all future phones at least, I can't believe how used to it I already am, I would actually likely buy an LG phone over anyone else if LG was the only one to offer that feature.

Really ??
Tell me a better full price phone right now ??
Obviously the first phone comes to mind is the Nexus 5 and the 32gb is the same price. G2 has better, bigger screen, bigger battery and better camera.

Note 3. But right now isn't the problem: a few months from now is.

You can ALWAYS argue 'a few months from now' in the world of smart phones. In fact the smart phone world is one of the interesting ones: handset makers generally don't launch anywhere near the same time (Google in late Fall, Samsung in Late Spring, Apple in early Fall) so there is always 'something new around the corner', phone specs have been moving very rapidly...yet most phones are still good enough for whatever you want to run.

So the next thing is ALWAYS around the corner, and on paper its almost ALWAYS better, but it still provides the same core and app functionality that you want, and generally doesn't do it appreciably better compared with the previous generation!

G2 was released only in Sept, but in phone years 90 days is quite a while! We won't be seeing The S5 till April, probably even later. By the time the S5 comes out, rumors of the S2 pro are to hit around the same time. And if we take the Nexus line as our frame of reference, then why buy into a Samsung Galaxy phone when the next Nexus is just a few months away?

Bottom line: something better will always come out. 400 bucks for this phone is awesome. I'd consider upgrading, but my Nexus 4 seems to be fast enough for what I do despite being outclassed by the latest releases ;-)

You mentioned the Note 3 without attaching a price to it.
I don't see anywhere on the net without paying ~$600 for one.
We're talking a reputable dealer with full warranty.
And to your other point, there isn't anything coming out that is revolutionary.
The Snapdragon 800 is already an overkill for smartphones.
The S5 might have the 2600x1440 resolution but that too is way overkill.

I find it ironic that most everyone finds the Nexus 5 to be the best bargain for a top end phone but when you have a G2 that is the same price as a Nexus 5 32gb but with better all around specs, people say meh.

Mainly because we want those specs with the Nexus experience.

I would pay 600+ for a 1mm thicker Nexus 5 with the same battery and camera as the G2.

You'd still probably have shorter battery life than the G2, despite smaller screen.

LG's GRAM implementation and other tweaks really helped the battery life. I didn't believe it until comparing it with AOSP/AOKP roms. There's really a noticeable difference in battery life.

If you thought the G2 was blue i'd hate to think what you'd say when you see a samsung AMOLED display, those are heavily blue compared to most displays.

A 3000 mAh battery in the Nexus 5 would have still be really nice to have.
