Are account management fees for 401ks usually charged in addition to fund fees?

I.E.
If the account management fee is 0.7%/yr, and they for some reason invested all of my money in a fund with 0.5%/yr investment expense, is the total expense 1.2%/yr or do account management fees take the fund expense ratios into account and my total expense is 0.7%/yr?

I tried calling the financial company to ask, but when you call their help number it asks for a SSN and I'm not even a member yet wtf.

Trying to decide if I should get a managed account or put it all on black.

Yes. Ideally, you should look at the entire funds expense ratio. That allows you to compare apples to apples across products.

From the way you described it, I would expect to get charged 1.2% a year. Is a "managed account" an option in your 401k plan? IOW can you participate in the 401k without having the 0.7% management fee?

I don't know why anyone would pay to have their 401k managed. 0.7% is going to cost hundreds of thousands over a career.
