400watt antec psu $59.99 ar @ compusa (price went up)

unfortunately, the old rebate pdf was for $10, too. they were just telling people to use the other side ($20, for the 1030 case, i think). so it looks like, instead of honoring the original price when there was a phuckup on the rebates, they'll just add $10 to make their lives easier. :disgust:

I didn't pick one up (I want a PP412X), but at my local store yesterday, they had a bunch of them on the shelf with a tag marked "sale $49.99".

yeah, but check the link: $59.99 after rebates. oh well, i'm gonna still see if i can get mine tonight.

I stopped at the Sunset Hills MO store this afternoon and picked one up.

Rang up 59.99 After rebate (10.00) 49.99 Plus tax.

in nyc, compusa @ 38th st and 5th ave.

i got in on the psu, i paid 59.99 before rebate, if you go pester the manager saying that it was a typo in the ad, there's a chance you can get $10.00 more off. 😉

btw $20 rebate applies to the case
$10 rebate applies to psu

Has anyone gotten a straight answer from Antec or CompUSA regarding the rebate amount snafu? Whats the dealio??? The evening mgr at the store said that it was Antec's responsibility to come up with the other $10.00 not their's. I'll speak with the daytime mgr and see what goes... rrrrrrrrr :|

I stopped by the local CompUSA and showed the manager the discrepancy between the printed ad ($20 MIR) and the actual rebate coupons they had on the shelves ($10). He took $10 off the price for me. There's no way Antec is responsible for this. It's a misprint on CompUSA's part.

I picked one up in the Columbus OH (Sawmill Rd. store) andthey were very upfront with me. Said that CompUSA misprinted the rebate amount and the manager took another $10 off so I paid 59.99-10.00MIR = 49.99. Not a bad deal as this normally is $100 as a stand alone PS (though the best way to get it is as part of a Antec case package but...nonetheless).

Actually, the price didnt go up, its just some people are confused to how this rebate works. There are two forms on the board. One goes to New Rochelle Box 821 (Comp USA Rebate) for $10 and the other to New Rochelle Box 1651 (Antec Rebate, its a yellow form at my store) they are both for $10 so combined they equal $20 which is what the ad said. You send the original UPC to antec one and a copy to the CUSA one. If anyone wants scans of these forms letme know and Ill see what I can do for you.

I'd like to see the one that goes to PO box 821. Compusa has the other one at the stores and on the web.

What's so special about this particular 400W ps? Is it actually a decent quality unit? Otherwise, if a box of floppy disks is heavier.... i wouldn't want it even if it were free!

never heard of Antech power supplies? hmmmm, nearly 50% off price and able to handle just about whatever you want to hook up to it? That would be my guess as to why peeps might want it... 😉

yeah, i was about to get that one too, lots of good reviews on that.
HOWEVER
you can't judge whether or not a psu is good within a week. some last a day, a week, a month, a year.
if you spend more money, you're getting more piece of mind. it's as simple as that. antecs are reliable. generics are not. that's not to say that a generic will crap out, and maybe it's even a good idea to buy 2 to have a backup for the cost of one antec , but personally, if it were between buying 2 psus in case one went kaput or one antec, i'd just as soon buy the antec (or sparkle, or enermax, or cwt, etc).
for the record, i bought the antec from cusa, but i got it for $60. i'd be very interested in 2 $10 mirs, though!

I have a feeling that CompUSA did this intentionally, hoping to sucker in customers. I dropped by a CompUSA in WA and they clearly had it marked as $49.99 after $20 rebate. When I went to check out, the clerk suggested that there were two rebates and that I had to see customer service. Customer service printed up the same rebate that they had stuck on the wall. Then he told me the $20 rebate only applied if I purchased the case. I replied that the price tag stated nothing about having to purchase the case, so he finally marked it down to $59.99.

I'm not sure why they print out the rebates, it states original coupon in the terms.

I bought one today from my local CompUSA B&M. Still shelf-marked at $49.95. The rebate form bins just had the yellow $10 rebate form. I complained to the manager and he went back in the office and found a second $10 rebate form, this one addressed to Cusa rather than Antec. Said to send in both. When I pointed out that both required original UPC, he said to send copy to cusa and orig to Antec.

In other words, I was told the same thing that jasonlkska said above.

well if it doesnt work you take the CompUSA one back to the store (the one you send a copy of the UPC with) and they will refund you the money if you show them a denied rebate letter or proof. They know they are running two rebates for this promo so it shouldnt be a problem.
