I actually like that blue with the white stripe. I like the varying tones of blue. Not $44m though. $100 seems more reasonable. Maybe a touch higher if I liked the texture.

Yes, it looks very nice, but not $44 million nice. 😱

When I say that the USA is full of a bunch of retards, I mean it.

Thoroughbred horses can be sold for millions of dollars. Yet you can go out and buy a horse for practically nothing. I've seen them sold for as little as $200. Hell, I've seen people who couldn't afford to feed them just giving them away.

Seeing a similar type of markup for other racing animals doesn't surprise me at all. Well... a little surprised that people take pigeon racing that seriously, though some of my older relatives from PA used to do that all the time on weekends.

400K to you. but for him its like spending 4 dollars at a fast food restaurant.

I don't think so, he's so rich that 400K won't put but a dent in his total net worth but a lot of rich people are surprisingly frugal, I'll bet in the end he makes his money back through breeding this little guy. Have to wonder what kind of food it get's fed, he probably has a bird nutritionist on staff.

He's breeding stock now so oysters and martinis I assume.

A lot of people seem to think "oh yah, I could do that" when it comes to art. Never mind they've never come up with an original concept in their life. Its a real problem if you ever work as an artist.

Nah it's because a famous person did it. Celebrity eats half a waffle it shows up on eBay. Our obsession with fame makes people do stupid things (in this case, greatly overpaying for things).

The issue with people thinking 'oh I could do that' goes all the way down to your local craft fair. But yah, some stuff is overvalued based on fame.

True it's a bit of both. But for example that picture posted in this thread of the splash art or the white line on a blue background, those works could have been done by an expert or a 5 year old, it's not a masterpiece of art.

I just want to point out that I had nothing to do with the fact that someone posted a painting so very similar to The Temptation of St. Anthony by Rabo Karabekian. Spooky almost.
