Here's the problem.

my processor is overclocked at 2.75 (well lowered to 2.7), and there seems to be some stability problems.

The strange part is, I ran Prime95 small FFTs for 26 hours, and large ffts for 24 some hours, and it's error free. before that I ran memtest86 test #5 for 20 hours. no errors.

What's going on?? No errors on anything that is made for tests, but when I start up a game, Company of Heroes, Chaos Theory, CS:S, I tried a variety of games, they always lock up within 1 minute of playing the game. it's a hard freezing with the sound turning into static!

anyone have any advice or comments please feel free.

thank you!

idle temps are: 35-36C, load temps: 49-51C
voltage is at 1.45, RAM voltage: 2.65

DDR freq is: 180.2mhz
2-3-3-7

lowered HT multi to 4x, with 902mhzHT Link

12x225mhz.

Sounds like the cpu overclock may not be crashing your games, but something else that could be involving your video card. Is the PCI Express speed locked? Maybe the video card isn't getting enough power. When running Memtest and Prime95, the video card will be idle. You do have a good PSU, though.
The system in my sig will pass benchmarks all day at 2.6 Ghz. However it will crash in 20 minues when playing Oblivion, and I have to lower it to 2.5 when I play (thankfully I can use software to change it). All other games work OK.

yeah, it's tested on #5 for 20 hours.. and #7 for 20 hours also.

temps on my chipset is 39-40C load. idle is usually around 35C?

How about ur hard rive temps? I Have same WD 250gb 16mb and mine gets relle hot... but no lock ups for me... it gets up to 60C while my Seagate stays at 35C... very hot drives... I like their speed but that temp sux....
Could it be maybe u got some corrupt drivers? did u try to remove totally n reinstall them?

Basically, CPUs are very complicated devices, and it's incredibly difficult to thoroughly test them. Failures can sometimes show up only under very specific situations - it's very possible you could run 10000 programs without any errors, then hit one that intermittently doesn't work right. Since this question seems to come up a lot, I might write up a detailed post with examples.

when I bring it back down to 2.4gh, theres no problem...

I'm currently trying out 2.81ghz, and it's running fine on source, I'll begin testing other games later when I have the time..

seems like 2.7 just wasn't what my motherboard (or cpu) liked.. =/ does this kind of stuff happen? I'm rather new at overclocking.

thanks for the comments and feedback, keep it coming :]

You just need more vcore, unless your PCI-E bus hasn't been locked @ 100 Mhz.

yeah, my bus is locked, I verified it too.

about the vcore... my cpu is clocked at 2.81ghz, and I raised the vcore to 1.45 .. a .5 increment.

so far so good, been running for .. I say, 3 hours? Prime95 seems fine.. though the temps seem to be raised a tad bit.

coretemps reports: 55C-56C. speedfan reports: 60-62C

are those dangerous temps to be running??
