So if you did want to get speakers, some examples would be

Klipsch Promedia 5.1 (~$300) almost enough left over to get an X-Fi if you wanted to do that.

Onkyo 780 HTIB has 5.1 analog input so you'll be able to hook up your A2 to it. On sale for $380 with rebates.

There are plenty of other HT options in the range, but the Onkyo set is a good idea of what's available in the pricerange.

An alternative to the Onkyo set would be to jump on a receiver when something shows up in Hot Deals. Just recently there were Pioneer 814s for $110 at some CC locations. Maybe even yours has one now.
Add in a dayton 12" sub for $140 + shipping.
Get three pairs of Polk R15s at outpost.com for $40 or $50/pair when they go on sale from time to time.

Just some examples for you :)

A rule of thumb for me: If it cost more than $100, I think it over for 48 hours before I buy it.

I purchased too much crap that I only used for few times and then sits and collects dust.
