I don't currently own or have the need of a cellphone. :hmm:

Me either. Turned ours off just over two years ago. I rarely miss the damned electronic leashes.

Scientists estimate that a tropical cyclone releases heat energy at the rate of 50 to 200 exajoules (1018 J) per day,[19] equivalent to about 1 PW (1015 watt). This rate of energy release is equivalent to 70 times the world energy consumption of humans and 200 times the worldwide electrical generating capacity, or to exploding a 10-megaton nuclear bomb every 20 minutes.

:hmm:

Yeah that nuclear / hurricane thing is fairly off. Perhaps it's a trick of statistics, eg; non-thermonuclear weapons only.

Officially, there are at least 10,000 nuclear warheads just with the US and Russia, most all of which are h-bombs in the megaton+ class. Many warheads are in the 10+ megaton class by themselves, and who really knows what else is out there.

Just watched 'Trinity and Beyond' again the other day, nutty stuff.

Another way it might be sort of a trick is that the energy released by a nuclear explosion is incredibly sudden. Comparing it to 10 minutes of a hurricane's total forces might be something like comparing 1 second of getting hit in the face with an RPG to 10 full minutes of being poked in the shoulder by a toddler.
