40 grams of protein for lunch

Recently at the mall, I came across a lot of cases of MET-Rx RTD 40 on clearance. 12 pack of 15 oz can for only $3. 😀 So I bought 4 cases. 😎

I'm having one for lunch and it's like drinking sugar-free chocolate pudding. 😕 Only sometimes it is more like cocoa flavored snot. 🙁

Hopefully this will help me in my quest for maximum muscle re-synthesis.

cocoa flavored snot.. Bwhahahaa.

Well, I guess you now know why it was on sale for 3$/case. 😉

It's certainly going to help you in a quest for a very stinky ass

The reason it was on clearance is because it was near expiration and they couldn't sell it after that. So I just lucked out the day they put it out.

This stuff is typically sold $3 per 1 can.

That sounds like a GREAT deal to me and I'm jealous. Except I would conisder using those as "snacks" between meals. 40g of protein is awesome however it isn't all that much if you are trying to get 1g per pound of body weight. Sounds like you got a good deal. And how bad can it be, it is only 15oz, heck you can just tilt your head back and start guzzling it and end the pain the 10 seconds or less. Great muscle rebuilder.

And there were still about 4 cases left, I just figured the 4 cases I bought would last me forever. But I think I'm going to drink a can in place of lunch every day, so that's less than a 3 month supply. 🙁 I should have bought them all.

I had the same think this morning for my pre-lunch meal, but I bought mine yesterday for $13 🙁 Still a good deal, when you Myoplex is like $7-10 for a 4pack.

Sagalore, did you get yours at a Vitamin World store? They have awesome specials. I got a 12 box of U-Turn bars (30 grams of protein and taste like a candy bar) for $17. I picked up 3 boxes yesterday, also.

Yes it was at Vitamin World. 🙂

It's awesome when they have to clearance their bars - we got this box of yogurt nutrition bars once that were very tasty.

Keep in mind the 40g deal is for the average person and even then a little high in my opinion for each meal (assuming 5-6 a day).

The proper way to do this (and I am not saying you are wrong, just for anyone else that may be wondering):

1) Make sure you are *really* exercising 🙂 I see so many idiots hit the gym with drinks, bars, etc (freaking whole bags full of crap) do mostly talking and eating and drinking 😉....I go 45mins a day, no water no talking....I am dripping when I leave and I normally don't sweat easily. I see these guys when I get there and as I am leaving.

2) Take your body weight and realistically figure out how much fat you are....subtract the fat from your total weight and get your lean muscle mass (people seriously underestimate their body fat % and how many lbs overwieght they are)....say it's 135-150 for the average 5'10" person (IIRC)....you need then 135-150g a day of protein and that's really all...

3) Make sure you sleep....this is another neglected thing, you can't repair the muscle you broke down awake, and if you get overly tired your body gains go to hell.

I just use the steroids - of course it mas made 'Mr. Willy' shrivel up...but that is something that I am willing to live with...

It tastes like snot for a reason dude, those drinks are nothing BUT protein. 4 to 8 carbs max, some of them coming in as fiber(we all know that just "slides right through"). You only run a risk of eating to much protein when you combine it with carbs and fats.

In any case I think that's a horrible meal replacement, but it sure as hell will get you cut if you can take the hunger pains that ensue from the horrible calorie defict you work up.

No kidding. A can of tuna is like 35 grams of protien per can, about 200 calories, only about 15 of which are from fat. And they only cost like $1.20 a can.

Exactly, you get esential oils and animal fats which are far more beneficial to the body.

Of course most poeple would rather just eat more high protein food. However it is hard to get that much protein without using a protein supplement. You have to eat a LOT of meat/eggs/dairy to get enough protein and most poeple just don't have the time nor the appetite for that. For me it is much easier and quicker to mix up a protein shake (1 cup of skim milk & 1 scoop of protein which costs around $.40 per shake with around 200cal and 35g protein) than it is to eat more food.
