This brings back memories of reading a certain piers anthony book in SSR while in school:

One that I always remember is the one where two people from the normal world get to xanth thinking it's a video game.

The pools of love or whatever they were does help explain a lot of the creatures you see in the books.

OK the one I am running out and getting is:

Castration: The Advantages and the Disadvantages

Sounds like a real page turner.

haha, same. I think that was the last one I read. I think I caught up to the series, and maybe had to wait around for 2 or 3 to be released, COlor of her panties being the final one for me.

man...being an 11 year old kid and calling Waldenbooks every day to ask when it would be available, much less ask them in person. 🙁

Further, explaining to my mom the purpose of the title. Well, trying to, anyway

How did YOU come across it?D:
Those were internet famous a few months ago. How did you NOT know?

Most of the books in the OP article were satire or otherwise (obviously) intentionally "clever."

It's only awkward if the author/publisher didn't intend it to be taken a... certain way. Otherwise, it's (worst case) a bad joke.

My mother in law gave my kids that Taro Gomi book, "Everyone Poops" when they were little. I was glad, because I was not sure they were entirely clear on it, and I hadn't figured out how to bring it up. So the book was a way to break the ice and just get it out there: yes, everyone defecates.

Anyone ever figure out the pen name 673126 from that How to kill in your spare time book?

I looked it up long ago and found nothing, and just tried again since it's in that link and no references.

Edit: apparently it's a reference to a pen(itentary) name pun.
