Well damn, cold isn't the only problem here. The high winds were having fun last night. A tree fell on my apartment.:Q

It's maybe 30ft tall, an evergreen tree of some sort, uprooted. Fortunately it was close to the building, only a few feet, so as of my leaving this morning, it was propped against the enclosed porch/laundry room. My landlord has seen it and says that he'll get "a tree guy" out today to take care of it. There doesn't appear to be much structural damage, surprisingly, though that could change. It's still windy, and the tree has the option of either staying put, falling more, rolling left (right into my new woodworking shop/room), or right, crushing the (useless/condemned) garage as well as my car, if it were still parked in front of the garage.

Maybe I'll post a thread with pictures later tonight once I get back home. I took pictures before leaving, but had no time to get them off my camera before leaving.

Air temp was -20 F when I left the house at 6:30 this morning (didn't look at the wind chill/"feels like" number), and was cursing my not having filled up with gas while I stood outside feeling the life seep from my bones in the wind.

It's warmed to a balmy -9F at the moment, "feels like -30" with the wind chill factored in. Pretty normal winter in Minnesota actually, not sure what the fuss is.

Weather says its 31F, I am not happy until its 60F. Right now I'v got 3 hummers idling outside of my mini coal burning powerplant that provides electricity to light my field of 200 heads of cattle with really bad gas.

yesterday, in st. louis, it went from 70F to 25F in one hour. at the end of the night, it was -5F with the wind chill.

I'm pretty sure the GW comment by the OP is a tongue-in-cheek jab at those people who all-too-frequently point at other "spot" weather , like warm winters, hot summers, Katrina, etc. as indicators of global warming. We all see those news articles, threads, and posts all the time...

It's 35F here right now with a light dusting of slushy snow overnight. More or less normal weather for this time of year.
