So what did you do for her?

She kind of insisted that I not do anything since I usually made all the anniversary plans. I still got her a diamond pendant, a dozen yellow flowers, and insisted on paying for dinner (not cheap, on Newbury St. in Boston's Back Bay).

I was taught long ago that you never show up to something like this "arms swinging" (i.e., empty handed) under any circumstances, regardless of what she says.

I think I'm gonna steal the scavenger hunt idea for her b'day in August. Last year she threw me a surprise birthday party and actually pulled it off without me getting suspicious. I dont know that I'd be able to do all the legwork for that given my schedule, but the scavenger can be easily designed in a few days, and made fun and pretty involved with some well hidden (and cleverly worded) clues. :)

So I've made it to 4 years with my gf as of this weekend.

She surprised me with a scavenger hunt which led me, clue by hidden clue, to different parts of my house, one of my cars, my parents house, my barber shop, and ultimately to a very nice hotel for a little getaway. ;) Picking up stuff like a packed bag, bottle of champagne, etc. with each clue.

I have to say, I'm quite lucky. Sometimes I REALLY think I don't deserve her. Guys, if you ever find yourself with the one that could be "the one", don't let her go easily. Your future self will thank you.

(EDIT: :camera: for the spider conspiracy theorists)

must be nice...:)

enjoy! and dont let her go!

Awesome. Best wishes to you both :)

Nice!

On both gf and hotel accounts (I stayed at a Jurys Doyle in Dublin and was pleasantly surprised at how nice it was!)

Where was that pic of you two taken?

This is actually one of the best modern art-deco hotels I've ever stayed in. Very nicely styled.

Pic is from Carnival 2006, Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, W.I.
Cool! My first guess was New Orleans, but the fleur de lis were a little "off." Figured somewhere carib...how was Trini?

Trip of a lifetime. Full Carnival experience--Played Jouvert, played Mas, crossed the stage after ~10hrs of nonstop dancing in the streets. My blood probably tasted like Johnny Walker and/or Carib beer the whole 2 weeks.

My mother is Trini so I have family down there... we stayed with my aunt's family in La Seiva Village in Maracas, St. Joseph, way back in the countryside at the edge of a mountainous rainforest. This is the window view we woke up to every morning when the insane roosters started their nonstop crowing :p

Dude, I was definitely co-captain of the "Fvck Valentine's Day" brigade back in the day. It hardened me to a point where I was doing some real foul stuff to females who had no hand in causing my pre-existing bitterness. At times, I've even had flashes of my old self in my current relationship, and still feel terrible about them. :(

Understand, tho, that NOTHING is worse than compromising yourself just to be able to say you're in a relationship. The right one will come along, just keep your eyes (and heart) open :)

Thats way too deep for me. hrmmm...here is a conversation from work that has no point being in this thread:

(little backround...we recently had a female inmate miscarry...onto the jail floor.)
Deputy(after listening to my ****** up music): Giermann, you're ****** up.
Me: Yeah. Thats why I work here. We are all ****** up.
Deputy: I dunno man, not like that.
Me: What are you talking about? 2 hours ago we were laughing about a ****** fetus flopping around on the floor.
Deputy: Yeah, that was hilarious. I guess your right.

There's a female out there for you who enjoys stillborn fetuses as much as you do. Only problem is, she might already be one of your inmates. :Q

There ya go

Seriously tho, you'll have a much better shot w/her if she is the type to share your sense of humor. Having to "change" around your gf sucks in the worst way imaginable.

(That exchange WAS pretty good. )
