Driving Home from work yesterday, I heard a news flash on local radio about a fatal fire near my home - a 4-year old boy was killed :( :( As the father of a 3 year-old, this hit me hard......Reading the press story, This text REALLY got me:

"His mother was outside screaming," said Taylor, who lives behind the fatal fire site. "(Nicholas) was screaming; I never heard anything like it in my life. He screamed for about 4 minutes."

Damn! :( :(

We've had a lot of those around here lately too. They almost all come down to no smoke alarms or no batteries in the smoke alarms. How dumb can people be. What's a 9volt battery cost? $3? You change them twice a year at daylight savings time? $6/yr to save your familes life in case of a fire? Sounds good to me.

Yeah -

For some reason I just can't shake the mental image of that poor scared little kid alone in his smoke-filled room scared out of his witts! Life sucks sometimes! :(
