thanks ill look into those. might not be worthwhile for me since I already have the drives.

purchased the rest of the components this week, ill update the op to close the loop later.
 
last update with the final components & prices. NAS will wait for a sale. last of the parts arrived today, looking fwd to the build tonight.
 
Very smooth build, loving it so far. Amazed at how quiet this rig is compared to my last. Installing into the r4 was a breeze, really like the case.
 
Substantially snappier and smoother! Haven't stressed GPU yet though. The 1k build thread was super useful... Though I would hope a 1k build in 2013 would be noticeable from a 800 2008 build 😀
