Supposidly the XG 84.22's have better IQ even then the XG 84.21's.

What exactly do the XG drivers do for IQ? I never really noticed a difference (maybe slightly less shimmering, but it could be my imagination), but I have been using XG drivers exclusively for so long now that I may have just gotten used to their enhancements.

I find that the XG drivers are nearly identical to the stock drivers, but they are at least as good in every way and give some 50 odd extra 3dmark points, so there is no reason not to use them. :)

Has anybody tried the 84.25.v2 drivers yet? I downloaded them, but have not yet installed them. These will be the first unofficial drivers I've used. I'm currently using the 84.25 beta.

Or, would you suggest I just go with the 84.21.v2?

The 84.25s give me random black screens in oblvion . . .

Anyway, I'll be checking out the XG 84.22 since the XG 84.25 has pretty bad IQ (a lot of shimmering in Oblivion for instance)

I tried the XG 84.19's and they didnt do good for me....they were alright but 84.21v's kicked its arse. Im probably going to try the 84.22's once i get a chance to.

I only use XG drivers anymore and I'm hesitant to change from the 84.20, as they have been excellent.
I guess I'llgive 84.21 and 22 a try since they seem to be getting good comments from users.

Try the 84.21 or 84.22 XG drivers. Suposidly the 84.22's have the best IQ so maby it's worth giving those a shot.

And yes, I've tried the 84.25.v2. They still don't hold up to the 21 and 22's.

Now, I'm going to take a wild guess here, but I'm GUESSING that the 85 series driver will probably increase Oblivion Perfromance (hopefully so that it gets closer to ATI's scores), and I'm also HOPEING that it has good IQ too.

But, most likely, all the HOPE in the world probably still won't make it come true and I'll still probably be using the 84.22 driver because of it's superior performance and IQ.

And another thing I don't get is how come a PREVIOUS driver has better performance and IQ than a NEWER one? wtf!?

I was using the beta Oblivion drivers for a while there because they were giving me a slight boost in performance for Oblivion. Then I switched to the XG 84.22 v2 drivers and holy crap...the IQ difference is night and day. When I first loaded up Oblivion I couldn't believe how much detail I was missing using the stock and beta drivers. HL2 also looked incredible with these drivers, I even played it for about an hour last night simply because of how good it looked.

When I first loaded them I was getting pretty bad performance in Oblivion. After I had run the tweakerizer (great companion for the drivers) and added the additional Direct3d settings with NVTweak (Max frames to render ahead to 0 gives me the best performance in Oblivion), it was smooth sailing.

I haven't used XG drivers in a long time, since the days when they would cause alot of problems with certain games, but they seem to be the best solution for nvidia cards now.

Wizboy im thinking about tryin the 84.22's today, you said its has better IQ than the 84.21's. Is it a slight difference? or day and night? Any performance impact? I just dont want go through the hassle if there are just minor tweaks delt.

Why not show proof?

I for one have a hard time believing a couple Yahoos seeking fame can program better than nvidias entire team.

This whole thread sounds like Xtream G AEG

Edit I tried the XG 84.22 v2 and FPS dropped by over 15% compared to 84.25 from nV. Most intense outdoor sceen I have saved goes from 24 FPSwith NV 84.25 to 20 FPS with XTREME G. What a waste of time. Back to playing on nV drivers

I have tried both drivers numerous times in the past, and have found ZERO difference. With the exception of XGs once hosing video playback until going back to officials.

I've been using the XG84.21 v2 and am stunned at the difference from all other previous drivers. They say the 84.22 v2 is even better, but I'm so happy with the .21's I have little motivation to switch.

To those of you trying to use, or trying out the XTreme-G drivers please use Driver Cleaner between installs it will help.

We at Tweaksrus are always trying to make the driver have better IQ with out the performance loss. Sometimes the driver tweaks out good and we get a gain on both.

If your intersted we have the stock 84.30 up for download, which seems good as I'm still in the testing stage.

Is default performance on XG drivers set to quality or high quality?

I decided to test these out on my own, since I hadn't upgraded to the newest Nvidia driver. I installed the Xtreme G driver, then took a screenshot at a saved point. Uninstalled, then installed the new Nvidia driver and did the same. The image quality was EXACTLY the same (inspected in Photoshop). The only difference was that the Xtreme G driver cut my framerate down by 20.

In conclusion, I'll stick with the Nvidia driver.
