4 power outlets out but no breaker tripped

2 in the kitchen
1 outside
1 in the 1/2 bathroom

There was a gfci on one of outlets in the kitchen and resetting that turned the 2 in the kitchen back on. The 1 outside and bathroom are still out though. I reset all breaker switches not clearly labeled but that didn't help. I checked for another gfci outlet but doesn't look like there's anymore.

Anything else I should check for or try to troubleshoot?

If it's not a GFCI, it could be a loose wire on an outlet somewhere. Do you know what breaker feeds those? Shut it off and see what else goes off, so you can determine what else is on that circuit, then just open up the nearest working outlet and check for a bad connection.

If they are backstabbed, do it properly by using the screws. I can't say I've experienced myself but I heard lot of stories about backstabbed plug connections failing.

If it does turn out to be a GFCI then yeah you'll want to find out what tripped it.

Agree it's probably another GFCI somewhere. They did my house kinda funny. All the bathrooms and outside are on a single GFCI in the garage.

I'll double check when I get home. They tripped when I was running an aquarium pump on the outside outlet. I've had this pump running before and it never had a problem. I plugged it into another working outlet and it didn't trip that circuit so I don't really know what happened.

You probably have another GFCI someplace like the garage that covers the outside outlets.

I'm still wondering why the ones on the other circuit went out though...any chance that those were on the circuit that you tried the pump on?

Out of curiosity, what kind of pump is it? Some of them are notoriously shitty...

Happened at my place. Turned out to be a loose wire that was sparking enough so that the contacts in one wall outlet was all burnt. Since the rest of the circuit daisy-chained off it, several outlets had no power even though the circuit breaker was fine.

That is perfectly fine as long as the first one is the GFCI and they are all on the same circuit. If any of them have a ground the GFCI will trip.

Thats about what my problem was except the sparking was occurring in the main fuse panel outside.

That is perfectly fine as long as the first one is the GFCI and they are all on the same circuit. If any of them have a ground the GFCI will trip.

I know, it's just the location of the actual GFCI that's funny. But from troubleshooting them I now know that the GFCI outlet has to be the "first" in line on the circuit.
