Well, if you have the space there's no reason to not put an 8pin vs a 4pin. The difference in cost on the BOM is probably only pennies, and it's often easier to plug a 4pin into an 8pin socket than the other way around.
 
My power supply came with 2 8 pin connectors which is totally ridiculous. Future proofing I guess. lol
