Well, sitting here at work, considering that in 4 hours I'll be 30. 8-(

Not entirely certain how well I'm going to deal with this.

Hated it. 40 will hit even harder in less than 6 years. 🙁

I mourned the loss of my youth...
 
I turn 20 in 28 days. I thought 18 was bad. The only thing worse than a 19 year old still working at McDonalds is a 20 year old still working at McDonalds.

It's a good thing I have two jobs so I can afford to go to school!

Oh yeah, how about a guy who: spent his elementary school years in national programs for exceptionally gifted intellects, in 3rd grade was one of a small group who chose WA states official animal, had met a vice-president, two senators, 2 congressmen (well, one man, one woman), and 2 governors by the time he was 11... and at 20 couldn't get a job at McDonalds so he joined the Navy because he was down to his last $5 (which was borrowed anyway), had never gotten a drivers license, had a cumulative HS gpa of .012, and was nearly totally ostracized from all his friends over numerous stupid petty things? I win, I win. Yeah me. 8-(

Hey no worries, I was smiling as I typed that stuff out anyway...I've had a lot of years to reflect on it and things are no where near that bad anymore. 😎 Seriously, I just like reminding people that most things in life are subjective so that maybe they don't feel so down about things...life is too short to spend it feeling sorry for yourself (especially when there are all of us out here to feel more sorry for *lol*). 😉

Yeah, you have to work VERY hard to pull off that gpa. It took almost five years with only 1 class passed to acheive it. 😎
 
That 2.0 was my high school gpa. I master the low gpa when I went to college. 2year degree at a 2.5 and then worked it down to the .8 gpa after that my first go around in college.


On my 30th birthday, I reflected back and realized that the days of drinking and partying until 3 am, 5-6 days a week were over, the days of sleeping with any female that walked in front of my sober or drunken radar screen were over, the days of me spending my paycheck on anything I damn well pleased were over, the days of being able to eat anything I wanted and not gain a pound were over.............30 hit me pretty hard!
 
I wish I had the alcohol to blame. Oh I drank stupidly in the Navy (it's required though) but that ended when the wife left (which oddly had nothing to do with the drinking). Before the Navy it was just being drunk on life/arrogance. After the navy it was just stupid wallowing.

Was watching Shawshank the other day...almost started crying when he said the 'get busy livin or get busy dying' line...not because it was so much of an epiphany for me, but because in a way I wanted to choose the dying idea and pull a 'leaving las vegas'. *shrug* It was momentary, but it woke me up.

I'm thinking these next 10 years are going to be entirely different, and I think maybe a lot better in many ways (with the exception of this whole sore joint thing, just WTF is up with that???!!!) 😎

I turned 29 last month and am getting married in 3 weeks, I am quickly begining to realize this. Although the partying till 3 am part left me around 26-27, just couldn't do it any more. Now i like going to bed early and getting up early. It is scary.
 
I turned 30 last December. It's just a number. It means nothing. It's all in your head. If you feel differently on your birthday than you did the day before your birthday, well, that's just sad.

hmmm, I've been a night person since birth. And I've worked graves for the last dozen or so years. I don't see me EVER being an up early guy, although I'm certainly cranky if I don't get my 8 hours in sometime.


I know that 30 is just another year, but it's like 2000 is just another year...yes it is, but somehow it forces us to stop and consider.
 
I hate 30. Probably most of all because I can no longer could make any excuses for stupid actions on my part.. I had to grow up really fast after getting married at 23 but It was ok to buy something I really did'nt need or stay out late and I miss that sense of liquidity/carelessness most of all. You know where you could throw someone in a dumpster behind a bar for talking Sh]t.


 
I think the worst fear for a guy isn't his ass getting too big, it's his breast getting bigger, that's my fear anyway.

Dude you way to smart to be feeling sorry for yourself. Go out and start a business, move someplace else (rainy is depressing), put down the books and keyboard and get outside and excercise and meet people. Believe me alot of smart people feel this way cause they are wound up too tight inside and they dwell on things which makes them bumbed out, the key is to stay so busy, that your mind can't focus for any length of time. Then everything will fall into place naturally.

Uh oh, I've been running the chruch program for 5 hours. It's sinking in! 🙂

Seriously though, this is very true. I've gone from feeling sorry for myself to actually getting on track. Focus yourself! Whatever it is you want to do, make a plan and follow it. It sounds cheesy, but it works. I'm cynical as ever, but at least things are moving in the right direction for me.
