no, there isn't. The normal limit is 2GB unless a program is specifically written to be able to read 4GB files.

Ya the patch is called NT 4.0 or Windows 2000. ;) Even with those OSes you'll need to convert the partition to NTFS. NTFS is what you are looking for. I too have run into the 2GB file limitation. I wasn't able to get a 4GB file to work on my system (98SE). I use Windows 2000 for my big 8GB files. ;) Ya gotta like having a file bigger than some people's entire hard drive. ;)

Out of curiosity, what files do you have that are larger than 2GB?

The largest file on my hard drive is 650-700MB (a few of them though). :)

The file size limitation is on FAT32 not on win98.
It does create a problem for us people who like to convert DVDs to DivX :(
The only real solution is to use NTFS or another filesystem allows BIG files :(

Thanks for the info, and to answer some questions I am capturing video in mpeg-2 at 720x540 from vhs and satelite. At highest quality with my Radeon AIW I only get around 66 minutes. Whate else am I supposed to do with all the space on my hard drives? ;-)

Use virtualDub to capture, it will break the file up into useable chunks on the fly.
