4 day workweek -- 10 hours per day, or 5 day work week -- 8 hours per day?

I've been doing 4 days/10 hours for the past 3 years. I'm about to switch to 6 days/8hours next month but at least I won't have to commute 100 miles anymore

If I had a choice, I'd stick with 4 day schedule, just make sure they don't drag you in there on your day off like they did to me a lot of times.

My schedule is flexible at my current employer. I have worked 10 hour days 4 days a week on some weeks and others I do a 5 day work week. Is there a difference? I like the 3 day weekend personally. The bad part is my company works a 5 day work week and someone needs to be on staff for the last day of the week.

My partner and I both swap out a 4 and 5 day work week schedule and it works out good that way. I just wish I could do it all the time.

that's the schedule i set for myself at work. the two week total is equal to 80 hours. it's pretty nice having every other monday off.

10 hour days in an office environment is a breeze compared with 10 hours+ of hard, physical labour (I did construction for a year while looking for office work)

if I could, I'd do three 12 hour days... have 4 days off afterwards... i think people would be much happier in general.

Strange... my team just had to decide which one we wanted to do... I choose the 5 day schedule... Since it's hard to get Monday or Friday and besides getting a 3 day weekend I don't really have any other reason I would want an extra day off...

We ended up splitiing, so part of the team will be working the 4 day schedule while others will be doing the 5 day...

you won't really see much difference in your premium based on mileage, unless the is a HUGE difference.

I use to work 3 12 hours shift with I was doing Tech. Support, loved those days off. But it took 1 or 2 to clear your head after back to back 12's.

we do 4-10's from nov. to march and I love it. 3 day weekends are sweet. xmas time i can use 4 days vacation and get 14 dyas off, all paid. Cant beat it.

Wish we could do it during the summer months though.

I've long thought it an interesting concept to see the standard workweek in other societies; I know that France has their workweeks capped at 35 hours - however, they're now feeling the backlash from this (IIRC). I find it amazing that so many people expect to have material wealth while only working 40 hours a week. Both of my parents have worked 45-50+ hours a week as long as I can remember and I plan on the same.

What's the saying? "The average worker drives home during rush hour. Successful people drive home in the dark."
