So they bought explosives and didn't even test-run them anywhere before trying a job? Sure sound scary. More like fvcking retards if you ask me.

Anyway, for a year? What else were they doing during this time that they were still running around for a year? Xbox 360 or internet forums about more killing and how to do it?

uh...these idiots were intending to kill people...who cares if they were fcking retards???

The FBI, apparently.

These guys were "just" looking for explosives before the FBI got involved and (probably) decided to help make the plot more news-worthy.

Again, these people should be locked up for a long time, but I'd bet you'd never have seen "missiles" in the headlines without the FBI adding them to the mix to build a stronger and more exciting case. I don't have any sympathy for these people though, they deserve the extra time they'll get.

This raises the difficult question: what should we do with these would-be terrorists while they await trial? And if they are convicted, what then? I assume that if it's too dangerous to move people at Guantanamo to the United States, it must be much too dangerous to allow these jihadists to run loose in our prisons. After all, they might provide financing for other jihadists from their supermax cells, or radicalize other prisoners, or use special Terrorist Mind Control Techniques to create a whole army of brainwashed convicts under their complete control. I'd suggest killing them, cutting them into pieces, and shipping their parts to parts unknown immediately.

I concur!! Harry Reid are you listening?

Just have then flush Quail for Cheney.

Good thing these guys were caught before they were ever capable of killing anyone.

According to the story, these guys were seeking revenge for the wars and deaths of civilians in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Too bad we continue to fuel more hatred toward our country. The war profiteers profit, and American citizens live in fear of those seeking revenge for our killing overseas, all the while, their rights evaporate. And via taxation, they're actually paying for these things to happen. It's really all disgusting.

Nutbar alert.

No, what is loony is thinking we can win this "war on terror" by listening in on phone calls and torturing people we capture overseas. This is yet another case of government fighting the symptoms rather than the disease. We need to fix our foreign policy. We need to focus on defending our own country, we need to mind our own business overseas, and stop trying to police the world. We need to actually stop fueling the hatred toward us. We need to lead the world by example, not by force.

Why do you hate America? :p

Oh and

They hated us even before 9/11 before all the so call fueling hatred. Let me ask you this question: When a weak and smaller country got bullied, USA can help them, but who will help USA got bullied like when it did during USS Cole and 9/11? No one but ourselves.

There is nothing "lefty" about what I propose. Ironically, it is you on the right that can't see that your warfare state is just as big-government as the welfare state.

You assume, incorrectly, that our adventures into the Middle East started after 9/11. We've been meddling in their affairs for at least 5 decades before 9/11.

Nice straw man. I'm not rationalizing anything, nor am I apologizing for their actions.

You don't. And if you're smart enough to you are probably smart enough to not get sold fake explosives by the FBI and then try and use them in a plot. Like I said, these guys are retards. Even retards can be dangerous, of course, but the point stands.

IIRC, bam's a Ron Paul supporter, i.e. conservative libertarian. Goes to show how far true conservatism has fallen when it isn't even recognizable, or worse, confused for liberalism!

What's funny is that Ron Paul supported going into Afghanistan and later admitted it was a mistake. Of course it wasn't a mistake, citizens of their country actually did attack us. There's plenty of sensible good that has been done in Afghanistan, of course staying there over an extended period of time is not at all ideal. But it made and continues to make far more sense than Iraq. Blaming fundamentalist terrorism primarily on the U.S.'s shoulders is patently absurd though, they play a part but by no means the biggest role. Afghan's were plotting to kill Americans before, during, and after we helped liberate them from the Soviets in the 80's. They don't have basic schools or infrastructure, you can't blame them for being easily brainwashed and radicalized into thinking a U.S. occupation means they hate Islam.

No, the 9/11 attackers were our good friends the Saudis and our strong allies the Egyptians.

Looks like the FBI and NYPD done good. We'll have to see how the trial goes. Hopefully this isn't another FBI orchestrated fiasco like the "Earth First!" power line bombing.

**cough cough** From CentCom:

Citizens from more than 80 countries died September 11, 2001 - innocent men, women and children from across the globe. Within hours of the tragedy, Coalition involving many nations assembled to fight terrorism - literally hundreds of countries have contributed in a variety of ways - some militarily, others diplomatically, economically and financially.

The United States began building the Coalition on September 12, 2001, with support from 60 nations for global war on terrorism. Currently more than 50 Coalition partners have approximately 42000 troops in U.S. Central Command's region of responsibility. This Coalition of the willing is working hard every day to defeat terrorism.

In Afghanistan alone, our Coalition partners are contributing nearly 31,000 troops to Operation Enduring Freedom and to the NATO led International Security Assistance Force.

Don't you feel silly, now?

Nutbar alert.

Remember the good old days; an FBI agent would infiltrate, instigate, train, plan, provide arms and lead his :heart:fellows in a terrorist action. Agents had to justify their salaries somehow and get advanced up the pay grade. Or were bored to tears with armchair activists.:D

The entire case was bogus; just another example of an FBI informant cooking up a terror plot from start to finish and signing on four clinically retarded ex-cons to make some headlines.

I feel safer already.

It had its intended effect. How many people know it was bogus?

This tactic from our police and Fed security services has become all too familiar, designed to support the perception that we are under constant threat of eminent attack, and so out of fear we need to suspend our rights and allow the "experts" all the money and latitude they want to "keep us safe" by filtering/flagging our email, electronic point of sale transactions, hardwire and cell phone calls, traffic to (and comments on) certain web sites and the data mining of consumer data bases.

Remember: fear motivates.
