:( 4/9.5 hours work days

I work for the Cali and they are going to move us to 9.5 hours a day for 4 days, plus a 5% pay cut. The worst thing is out of the 13 people in my unit only 2 of us have to do this, the rest are salary and will get a 5% pay cut too but they will be allowed to work 4/8 hours instead, so they will work 32 hours a week and I will have to work 38. 🙁

sucks for the paycut but I work 4 10 hour days and it's nice having that extra day off, although I have to work Sundays.

I feel your pain. We took 2.5% pay cuts and 2.3% furlough cuts even though the state pays for absolutely zero % (yes, including perquisites) of our salaries and benefits.

Guess you need to work on getting a salary position?

I'd gladly take a 5% pay cut for a whole extra day off.

I was working 10.5 to 11hr days for minimum wage until recently. Pay cut blows though. Time for you to work on your resume.

Just need 1 more promotion, but I won't be able to get since they aren't doing promotions now in my department. 🙁

That sucks.

I've been lucky the last 2 weeks and continuing into this week. Doing final testing on a project, which can only be done at night between 12am-4am. So I've worked 2-4 hours per night(most of the time spent playing Angry Birds and watching Netflix on my tablet) and getting paid 8 hours, at $5/hr more than my usual pay because the contract is different.

Going to blow going back to regular work.

It only sucks because of your coworkers who get to work 32's.

Unsure of what you do , but do they really expect you work hard once all the salary folks leave the office? Lots of neffing will go on!

Obvisouly there is not that much work to do if they think 11/13 workers can do their full job in only 32hrs a week.

They see it as not how much work they need to get done, but how much they are required to work. It isn't like they don't have enough to do in 40 hours, but they cannot be required to work that many hours, exempt people are basically free to work as many hours as they like.

I have all you whiney bitches beat. I work 7 days a week, 12 hours per day, except major public holidays.

those of you who are doing 10 hour shifts, how did you adjust to such long hours.

Simple.

Work 8 hours like everyone else
Wait 20 minutes until they're all gone
Leave
Repeat all week
Get 3 days off
Profit

Sigh, that was a good job.

I put in 11 hours a day six days a week... during my summer break; add another 12 hours a week when classes start.

4/10 is an awesome schedule. Been working that for about a year now. The extra hour is hardly noticed (was previously working 9/80) but 3 day weekends are awesome.

Paycut sucks, but enjoy the extra time off 🙂

I miss the job where I worked 4/10. It was only 3-5 hours of actual work, then 5-7 hours of neffing and listening to music, or watching movies/playing video games on my laptop.
