And no, it will have no problems running in dual-channel mode, with 1GB in each channel, it will just overclock slightly better, since there are fewer sticks of RAM to "supervise".

I'm certain you're wrong there. I think it's a link duel coming up...

What if you have three modules? I?m sorry, but you?re out of luck. Dual Channel requires either two or four modules. What you have is three modules trying to all use the same single memory channel.

Your link supports exactly what I told him:
When running in dual channel each stick must perform exactly the same, so they must have the same speed and same latency.

Not at all.

The way dual channel works requires pairs of sticks that have very similar layout and components. You think the controller is going to mistake 2 sticks in different slots for a single stick?

Since the introduction of the 955 chipset, Intel's chipsets have included support for Flexible Memory Technology, as they call it: link.
Intel® Flex Memory Technology Facilitates easier upgrades by allowing different memory sizes to be populated and remain in dual-channel mode.
Link to Intel's info about the 965 chipset, which also supports Flex Memory Tech.: link.
