Changed ring tones and txt sounds
Full texts appear on lock screen and phone must be unlocked to clear them
Flash goes off when phone rings
Screen stays black when you pull the phone away from your face to end a call
Correction: Switching apps and returning to chrome mobile results in a black screen until you swipe it
Reduced battery life

I've only used it for a day but I'm sure there are more wonderful additions.

Did vzw just get this? I thought it was out for months already.

I'm assuming so. My wife's S3 just got the update this week as well. Sounds like standard vzw operating procedure to me. I'm actually somewhat surprised the update was sent out at all.

I did a manual check around Christmas and didn't have anything, woke up the other morning and this one was ready to go on my screen. I'm partially to blame, I clicked install before looking around for impressions.

Also need to add the full screen Verizon banner that has replaced the start-up animation and sound when rebooting or powering on.

I'm hating this update so much.

My ringtone is just gone. I didn't notice until my phone started making some random noises which as it turns out, I had an incomming call. My Swiftkey keyboard was gone. I had to reinstall it. I have this constant notification to turn on backups for my media. It won't go away and doesn't give me an option not to turn it on. The clock/lockscreen are more transparent and are now very difficult to read at a glance. I guess I'll have to change my background so that I can actually see things. Which reminds me, my wallpaper is gone now too.

I do like how text messages popup on the lock screen though and also the old constant wifi notification has been relocated to it's proper place as a toggle in the settings.

But the worst thing of all, my phone isn't auto-connecting to my car's Bluetooth anymore. I have to go into the phone and manually hit connect each time. I'll have to fix this as this isn't acceptable.

Thanks for the update, now go DIAF Verizon!!!

I had issues with lockups a couple of times immediately after updating. I did a factory reset and the stability problems went away.

I have noticed the black screen in Chrome occasionally. Other than that it's worked fine for me.

My battery life went to crap right after the update. Other things going on at the time prevented me from doing any research on the problem but amazingly, it eventually corrected itself. Took about 10 days or so.

My gf had a crap load of problems on her tmo s3 and the update to 4.3 made it worse until a factory reset.

Hopefully this is a sign of things to come for the VZW GNex. 4.3 has TRIM as I found out in another thread and I need it desperately as the thing has slowed down so much.

As far as bugs, sounds like some of those things should've been discovered pretty easily by testers. Isn't that why it takes VZW forever and a half to release something?

The delay isn't for testing, it's for adding their logo to boot screens, paid junkware that can't be deleted easily, Verizon proprietary backup schemes, etc, etc. Possibly remove features as well, for customer "convenience". ;)

I really like the update, but I'm on the de-knoxed version :D

I think it's really scummy how they're relocking the bootloaders in a way that makes it impossible to even revert.

On the one hand, I understand security is important if employees BYOD, but I think BYOD is a pretty terrible idea anyway (breaks down the boundaries between work and personal life).

Imagine if OEMs treated PCs like they treated phones...

Mine too, but we are talking S3, not N3. :)

The original S3 update was appalling but I've had no problems at all with the new one. Not that there's a vast difference to 4.1, settings menu is differently organised, the calculator is different and it scrolls "differently" (its hard to explain, its not better or worse, or faster or slower it just feels different somehow).

My S3 update didn't come with Knox or a locked bootloader.

Verizon seems to be more interested in adding bloatware than testing for bugs, as this new 4.3 Android release is full of them.

I love how the Cloud backup software decided that I needed to log in before I could go into the settings and disable it... even though I didn't have a password for the service. They just fixed that one in an app update.

Open the messaging app, tap the settings button scroll down to "Preview message" and clear the check box.

Lol its the middle of January 2014 and Verizon still can't figure out how to get 4.3 deployed, and it sounds like the bugs are even worse than what the 'bleeding edge' experiences...

I feel sorry for you guys, but I did laugh at 'Flash goes off when phone rings'

*hugs Nexus 4 running 4.4.2*

"Flash goes off when the phone rings" is kinda cool. It helps ya see incoming calls when you have the phone on vibrate.

But, yeah, Verizon's and/or Samsung's firmware department needs a boot to the head. My Nexus 7 is WAY more stable than this, and it's running 4.4.2.

You can always root versions prior to 4.3 and TRIM it manually with apps from Play Store.

As for the all intrusive US carriers, I can only sucks to be you...International Samsung users don't have to deal with this mess.

Trim support is why I finally rooted my Verizon S3. LagFix Premium has worked wonders! I have noticed a legit reduction in lag following is use.

Really glad I saw this thread before applying the update! My Gps already sucks. I don't need further issues.
