Mount & Blade games are fun, though Warband is the only one you need to get. I've heard nothing of the new Jagged Alliance though.

I'm curious to know this as well. I have both Warband and Fire & Sword, and I had always assumed I'd just play the latter first.

Is it mod support? If that's the case, which mods would I want to get for the game?

Reason Warband is the one to get is because, it has all the content from the original M&B (minus a couple of good mods that haven't been ported over yet), new features and content, and a better engine. Fire & Sword is just weak imo and from what I've seen from others as well.

I love JA and JA2, but they turn JA:BIA into real-time and the reviews are not favorable, I'll wait till it under $10, or skip it if the upcoming X-Com game is better.

Yep, they ignored the thousands of fans that told them going RTS instead of turn based would be fail, and look at the results, I won't even buy it at $10.

I'm pretty sure that is not why it failed. I played 7.62, a buggy JA knock off that had real time, and I enjoyed it immensely. It had pausable combat, where every action required time to execute. Once you set all your commands, you could hit play and watch the fire works. From what I read on JA:BIA, it was poorly executed, buggy, and not much of an improvement over a game that came out over a decade ago. Like you, it is bargain bucket for me, but I will get it because of the genre.
