'bout time, i say. I was worried a person with talent (Latoya or George, for example) might get voted off before JPL.

well it looks like Diana stayed on...cause its down to John and John. who was the 3rd loser that stayed?

Diana was the other member of the bottom 3. And a John/John bottom 2 sounds like a win/win situation to me.

Jasmine got saved from her looks alone, and DeGarmo and Stephens cashed in a favor from God. DeGarmo and Jasmine should have been the bottom 2....but like I've said before either Idol is rigged or the voters are smoking the crack rock

one John down, one to go.

thank god :)

IMO, we'll see John, Diana, and potentially Jasmine all getting the boot soon. I dunno, though... the voting results have been so inconsistant this year. last year, I think everyone knew from day 1 that it was going to end up being Clay vs Ruben, and the only real contest was for 3rd place.

Can I borrow some rock from you? Cause you're obviously smoking it. Both Johns are horrible! John Stephens forgot his lines just three weeks ago and did the "lalalala" thing to cover up. And JPL literally butchered that Elton John song. If you think those two deserve to be anything above last and 2nd to last, then you're probably tone deaf.

That's weird thought they were supposed to be judged on Wednesdays performance...

There was alot of people that should have been voted off last week.

JPL was horrific, and I'm glad he's gone. John had probably his best week, but that's not saying much. He's a one-trick pony and that trick isn't even very good. Not surprised to see Diana in the bottom 3 either, as she and Jasmine have not been singing very well in the last few weeks.

i bet most ppl vote based on favorite since the beginning rather than change their votes weekly. that is, until their favorite gets voted off. so regardless of who sang best that week, its just a popularity contest.

I'm sure they do -- the vote isn't so much for each specific performance, but for the cumulative performance and potential to actually be what they're looking for in an American Idol. If Latoya's voice were to crack one week when everyone else was flawless (including, say, John Stevens), you couldn't expect them to vote her off instead of him (although you never know, as you said, it *IS* a popularity contest).

I was so shocked when JPL and John Stevens were in the bottom three -- and actually gave my TV a standing ovation when they were the final two (yeah, I'm a dork, it goes with the Tarantino/JPL theme for the week).

If Idol was rigged Clay would have won last season. And AI is pretty much a popularity contest, not which performance is mind blowing.

Jasmine should be safe for a while b/c all the Camille voters have jumped over to Jasmine's team now. John and Diana are in trouble that's for sure. And that's the way it should be I think.

I'm somewhat dreading next week... Barry Manilow as guest judge AND theme.

I guess they had to one-up the nerd quotient after QT...

Hmm... really, deep down, the point is that it's SUPPOSED to be a popularity contest. You're supposed to get the guy/girl that will sell the most albums. The secret irony of it all is that She Bangs will outsell the idols from last year probably (just a guess).

As for clay aiken... I think it was the anybody but clay mentality that made ruben win.

No one mentioned how awful their 'favorite movie' choices were. Two people named finding nemo. Good movie but not THAT good. And I think it was Jennifer Hudson who chose SISTER ACT 2?!!!!

Other than Copacabana a musical artists that falls way for below fingernails on a chalkboard in my listening preference.

Why not just do elevator music week and be done with it?

Yeah, the songwriter theme weeks vary a lot in quality. I was really surprised that they got Elton John this year and Billy Joel last year, but say, Smokey Robinson and Manilow, they probably aren't doing as much.

Personally, I'm waiting for Neil Diamond. ;) He's got the same cheese appeal of Manilow without the painful dorkiness plus actual songwriting skill.
