Does anyone know how the Altec Lansing 641s fair against the older Altec Lansing ADA890 with dolby digital decoding in the speakers that create a "virtual" center channel? From what I've read about the ADA890s compare favorably against the ProMedia 4.1s except that dont have much of a ooomph with regards to the bass... As for the Logitech Z560s I was gonna consider them except but apparently a lot of ppl's 560 subs have blown out and that kinda sucks..
The ADA890s and ProMedia's 4.1 are about $250 while the 641s are $150 with shipping...

Does anyone have any opinions to offer?

And also whats the difference with teh 641 110v and the 200 or 220v?

My Altec Lansing 641 sub gave up the ghost too after 6 months of easy use.

z560's going strong for me, guess I got a good set, either that or everyone is too incompetant to realize they just kicked in the auto-shutdown feature and didn't actually break them heh. silly people.

Also, take a look at the Boston BA7800s for $250 (Only available though Gateway's Country and Online stores). 3DSoundSurge.com will have a review of the speakers within the next few weeks.
