Looking to add another EVGA GTX 680 Classified to my build, if I do, I will need to find a different motherboard.

What are some good motherboards that do at least 8x 8x 8x with three slots?

My current Specs:

Core i5 3570K 3.4GHz LGA 1155 Processor @ 4.8 GHZ
Z77 Extreme4 LGA 1155 Z77 ATX Intel Motherboard
2X Vengeance Series 8GB DDR3-1600 Kits

Thanks

Someone correct me if I am wrong but doesn't a PCI-E 2.0 x16 slot transfer data at the same speed as a PCI-E 3.0 x8 slot? If so, Just look for a board that has 2 PCI-E 3.0 slots and one PCI-E 2.0 slot

intel spec 1155
PCI Express Configurations 1x16, 2x8, 1x8 & 2x4
You need a mb with that added PLX PCIe chip for more lanes on the board.

I have read many posts stating that you wont gain much by using a mb that supports a plx chip.
Your native 16 pcie lane gets extended to double then back to native so you never have 32 lanes to and from your cpu the chip also increases your mb heat.
What I would do is a search of 3dmark or hybots database to locate the high scores for 1155 mb then compare the score by number of cards to locate the best mb.

Ok guy's, I went a little overboard.... I purchased 2X 680 Classified's.... So i will need to run 4X EVGA GTX 680 Classified cards.

I need a 1155 board that supports four of these and my Xonar STX...

I am thinking of this, as it might have room.....

ASRock Z77 Extreme9

Thoughts?

Thanks!

There is just not enough room between the sockets. Even those big E-ATX mainboards for Quad-SLI will only fit 4 dual slot graphic cards but you won't be able to put your sound card in between.

Besides Quad-SLI only brings minor performance improvements if at all, compared to Tri or Dual-SLI. I would have stayed with a Dual or Tri-SLI setup with the GTX 680 or two GTX 690 or two or three Titans...although that's overkill as well ;-)

Ok,

What board that does 4 way sli has the best sound ?

Looking to run some nice headphones off of it.

At this point I need to consider ditching the sound card.
