3Ware RAID controllers

So, I am looking to build a new file server, and am looking at the 3are 9650SE-12ML for my RAID controller, but the only thing is I am not sure if it is going to play nice with CentOS 5.2.

So, has anyone tried this card/ OS combo, or similar?

Yeah, thats the trouble, Centos/ RH 5.2 are 2.6.18-92.... So close, yet so far. Tried using the driver disk in a CentOS 5.2 VM, but it didn't seem to work.

The 3Ware site says they're supported, but I guess you gotta jump through some hoops. But hoops seems to be the norm with RHEL/CentOS anyway. =)

Yeah. If only it was running the 2.6.19 kernel.... oh how much easier life would be. Oh well, will keep trying it.

Are you able to post the process you went through to get them working? I knew it should work, but I just think I was doing something not quite right.

Kakumba I apologize I wasn't paying attention to this thread.

I didn't do anything. Just plug and play basically. The install will see the raied HD space automatically. 3ware drivers are automatically included already. What exact issue are you running to?

yea 3ware and some other big name brand are in there.. I also use adeptec But 3ware really rocks.

Let me know if you have any issues.. I don't think you will though.
