I don't know about you guys, but I'm anticipating a truly nice Black Friday. Cheap 3TB drives, DDR, possibly IPS LCDs. This is definitely a buyer's market for even the most frugal.

I got mine in the mail yesterday, pulled it apart, got the 3TB XT version, put it in my computer, opened command prompt, used DISKPART to switch to GPT, then quick format.

Drive is fast. I archived 1TB of stuff onto the disk already and average speed was 120MB/S.

The interesting thing is the temperature sits around 35c and goes up to 38c during heavy writing all the while my Samsungs idle around 29c and goes to 31c during heaving reading/writing.

It just goes to show the Samsung F1 figured out a way to keep nice and cool without sacrificing speed.

EDIT: I also im thinking about plugging this into the cavalry usb 3.0 dock. (EN-CAHDD-U3 Series) but i found out it supports up to 2X2TB, I wonder if i can do 3TB+1TB on it.

There was no way to open it without breaking some interior tabs. I just took a flat head screwdriver and pried between the covers and several snaps later, the top came off the bottom.

Then I unscrewed the screws from the HD and the HD case then I untaped the led wire then I gently pulled the hard drive out.

I don't think there is a way to open it without breaking some of the interior tabs off.

Yeah turned out to be impossible to not ruin the innards when pulling out the drive. Turns out i got the model as described by the OP here. Looking up the warranty on Seagate's site shows its not qualified for any at all so definately classified for external. The EN-CAHDD-U3 Series picked it up well even with a 1TB on it as well. So maybe it is not limited to 2x2TB as the dock info mentions after all. As long as the 3TB doesnt break on me I will be very pleased.

I just ripped the top cover off and then unscrewed the 4 mounting screws on mine. I'm using mine in a NAS. Still wish I had picked up 2 instead of just one though.
