Question 3rd party carts?

So my Canon MG5220 printer up and died after nearly 10 yrs of loyal service, and I have the Pixma TS8220 inbound to replace it. As quickly as these suckers go through ink, I'd like to have a reliable source of 3rd party chipped carts on hand should I choose not to pay Canon's exorbitant prices for ink (and yes, I know that using third party carts can void the warranty on the print head). Any recommendations? Amazon is littered with vendors who sell carts for this (and every other) printer, but I wouldn't know one from the other. Thanks.

If you insist on using 3rd party carts, don't get them from da 'Zon.... get 'em off ebay, that way you will know for sure that you are wasting your money on uber-el-cheapo bottom-barrel P.O.S. crap piles that may or may not work at all, or contain only a few micro-drops of ink 🙂

My brother recently switched to one of those Epson printers with the "eco-tank" thingy, and said he has not ran out of ink in several months, and he prints a crap load of stuff every day.....

When my current printer dies, I will most likely be following his lead 🙂

But for reference purposes, this forum is as close as you will EVA get me to any Canon-guzzle printer ....

Well, I don't insist, but I have used third party carts with no problems. Keep in mind that now Costco fills used, name-brand carts. Slightly cheaper than retail. Ah, never mind; I should have known better than to post here.....

Do you do a lot of color printing? The only reason I ask is because if most of your printing is b&w you would be better off wit ha laser printer. The toner in the carts lasts a lot longer and are a little cheaper.
