3rd gen RX-7 good for all season driving, or just summer?

Once I save up some $$$ I'm looking to buy myself a 3rd gen RX-7.

I really don't think it's a car that would do too well in the snow and salt during the winter in Winnipeg. Is this the kind of car I only want to drive in the summer?

Also, I'm curious what is the last year the car was made in North America? I thought it was 1993, but I swear I've seen up to 1997. Maybe those are imports?

I believe the last RX-7 sold here was 1995, but someone else can feel free to correct me on that.

3rd gen was 1993 in america I think, could be 1994. It was still sold in Japan for a long time after it stoped selling in america.

Damn I want this car!

Uhhh. What's the conversion work out to be on that? That seems like an extreme amount of money to be spending on an 11 year old car. But hey, it's never been "accidented". 😀
Right now $17k probably or something. Miles are low at 40k, but that car is most definitely not going to be maintenance free, and say hello to insurance premiums.

But I'd have the only 3rd gen RX-7 in my city 😀

And then to a civic? For shame.

You tried insuring an RX-7 when you're 18? F that. 😛 Even with Teh Civic, I'm still looking at CDN$3K.

Insurance in Canada sucks!

It would be nice, but very pricey to be that guy.

It would cost me $1800 / year CDN to insure it under my name and $1400 to insure under my parents name.

Re Insurance at the age of 22 I was quoted at something like $5500/year on an 89 porsche 944 turbo...this would have been in the year 2000. I think an RX7 would have been a good $4k.

I'm the primary driver (22 Male), $200 deductible, $1,000,000 3rd party liability.

What do you mean by coverage level?

My carrier is Manitoba Public Insurance.
