Can someone explain to me how they use so many gigs of bandwidth? Are you downloading games, videos, applications, tv shows? How do you find the information so easily?

MST3K movies - 700mb each x about 150 = 105 gigs 😀

Some people download their daily TV shows; no need for a TiVo.

LoL edit:

8GB of news goes by quik

Giganews offers a free trial. Once it's done you can either cont. with service or cancel. I believe there is a 2GB download limit though. Giganews is awesome for retention, 70 days!

newshosting.com $15 amonth for unlimited. Great service there!!

Me too.

Me 3. I'm pulling a keen 850KB/sec from them right now.

I use them too. 40 day retention, 8 connections (probably can hit more than 2 megaBYTES/sec). and unlimited giggage for $15 a month, hard to beat that. Only giganews is better but they are also almost twice as much per month.

BTW, there are more than 2 TB of stuff posted to newsgroups every single day 🙂

OP: You may want to edit your title to indicate that its for newsgroups/usenet.

I'll second that. i've been with them for well over a year now and been very happy with their service.

If any of you are going to move to Usenet do NOT do it through UseNeXT.

My suggestion is an unlimited account from newshosting + Newsleecher as your client and you're good to go. I also recommend signing up for Newsbin.com which makes it all 10 times easier but that part is optional.

I mostly do DVDRs which are 4.5gb apiece. But I do everything aswell. i average well over 200gb a month. If my calculations are correct I could pull near 1TB if I had it going nonstop at full speed for a month. but there isn't enough stuff I want and I dont have the HD space ;P

For free USENET access use your ISPs news server - but be warned most ISP new servers are horrible for binaries (poor completion/retention).

Some tutorials here: http://docs.newzbin.com/UsenetTutorials

three day unlimited for 3 bucks!

I would definitly check this out. The only thing you need to be careful of is canceling your service after the 3 days. IMHO, free usenet servers are garbage. For only $3 you can get a feel for usenet and get 3 days of some high quality news.
