3g2 file type (video)

So I recorded a couple videos with my Samsung Instinct and they're 3g2 files. I copied them to my computer and Quick Time will play them, but nothing else has any idea what they are. I can't find a codec for it... even youtube couldn't convert it into something usable. The video portion works fine but the audio is just noise.

Anyone have any experience with this file type?

It's just a 3gp file, but renamed.

Kind of like how .mp4 files (AAC) were renamed to .m4a for Apple products.

You will need some kind of h.264 codec to play these files.

If the audio is samr, vlcplayer will not play it. Some kind of legal issue prohibited them from including a codec to play samr(codec often used on mobile devices for audio recording in videos).
