3dMark2000 score on a c2 733

Picked up a system for the fams.
Scored a 2700 on 3dmark2000.

Decent for a v770 tnt2 16m agp + c3 733 @ default.

Havnt seen many 3dmark2000 scores.
Whatcha got out there?

SammySon: Your score seems pretty low but it's probably just the "Old" TNT2 that is to blame. I suggest you post your scores on the MadOnion website to compare it with simmilar systems before you worry about the lowish score. My system is:-
Celeron 2 600@675Mhz CAS2 RAM@113Mhz
Prophet 2 MX AGP X4 with fast writes enabled
3DMark 2000 = 4138 (As of a few minutes ago)
Some will say my score is low but when I compare it on the web page it comes out pretty much close to the top of the bunch of simmilarly setup machines. ;)

Just though I'd add that when I go mad and O'C my machine to 900Mhz I have to knock the RAM down to CAS3 and 100Mhz. My 3DMark 2000 score only goes up to 4800+. There are alot of variables that go into the score so that's why you need to compare it with simmilar machines before it is useful. I have also heard that people out there know how to optimise thier machines to give an inflated "unrealistic" score to brag about, thus making the scores even less usefull as a comparison.

It's not that his score is too low. It's that everyone elses scores are too high.

P3@1064
32meg GF2 GTS @ 220/390
150Mhz FSB, RAM 2-2-2

Intel processors seem to do much better clock per clock than AMD counterparts on this benchmark. I think the SSE is implemented better than 3dNow!.

It seems like your FSB is really holding you back. Why don't you try raising that a bit and try to get over 800Mhz on that chip. Should be easy to do.

That's less than what my friend scored with an older(Katmai?) P3-500 and a TNT2 Ultra card. While his video card is faster than yours, and his FSB was higher, it seems that the extra 233Mhz and full speed L2 cache you have over him should be able to make you beat him.

Your TNT2 card is probably a MAJOR bottleneck, why don't you overclock it until it either blows up or you can buy a new card? GF2 GTS cards are getting VERY cheap now, and they give you alot of power in games. MX cards are really cheap, and they'd still give you awesome performance. Because with a 2700 score, I know you must have to turn detail pretty far down to get smooth gameplay on new games.

Just my suggestion.

I don't get it... I am running my
GF2 GTS 64meg
in my system with a
P3 @ 933mhz
256 megs PC133 mosel
on Win2K server with
Detonator 6.49 driver
vid speeding at 210 / 400
and I only get 5000 in 3Dmark2000
WTH is up with that???
What color depth and screen res are you guys running the tests at?
What's wrong with my system that I only get 5000? (ok, it's 4997 - I was rounding)
I turn off every background service and app I can find before running the test too.
Any help here?

I changed the memory timing from 5t/7t to 7t/9t and installed DX8 final.
My 3Dmark2000 score went from 4997 to 6651 :cool::D:D:cool:
Changing the timing was related to a stability issue. DX8 final seems to have done the trick under Win2K server. About the same score using both Det 6.49 and 6.67 BTW.
