So here's the deal. I just built this PC and for what I put into it, it seems that it is failing miserably at the benchmark software. Here's a list of the related components.

Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe Motherboard
AMD 5000+ stock 2.6ghz OC'd to roughly 3.2ghz
EVGA Geforce 8800GT 512 Core bus: 705Mhz/ Memory Bus: 1009 Mhz
4 GB OCZ DDR2 Ram 5-4-4-18 Timing
850 Watt Power Supply with a dedicated cord to the Card.
I only include the power supply so you can rule out insufficient power.

So far with this setup the max 3dMark06 score has been 6149.

I've been reading into other people's scores who have basically the same setup who are getting marks ranging from 9000 to 11000.

Has anyone else had this problem or is there anyone who can suggest some possible solutions to this problem.

Thank you in advance for your time.

Dennis

Edit: Also, forgot to mention that I am using Windows XP 64 bit as the OS. Don't know if that had anything to do with my low scores, but, best to mention everything.

Is this indictive of PCI-E going x1 or would the score be lower for that?

I'm curious if it's a processor issue. Not sure how...but knowing how processor-dependent 3dmark is, it certainly wouldn't be the first thing I rule out.

Also, why in the world do you have an 850w psu?

Yeah I agree with you, although, people with the exact same processor who haven't OC'd as far, say around 3.10Ghz, have had much higher bench test scores. So, as it my just be the processor, I believe it's unlikely.

Also, my graphics card came in a combo deal from newegg with the 850 W Antec PSU. After rebates and mail-ins in only cost me about 70 bucks, so I figured why not.

With my rig below i get 8300 in 3dMark06. You're cpu and video card are more powerful than mine, so you should definitely be getting between 9000-11000 range.

Yeah your gpu score alone should get you around 9000.

nvm, it's not GTS.

Possible you didn't install chipset drivers?

i got 7950 with a 2180 at 2ghz and an hd3870. when oc'd to 3ghz i got 11000. it seems cpu makes a HUGE difference. yours is still lower than it should be.

Angry Hampster: I ran a memtest with zero errors, I'm in the process of a cpu stability test and no errors so far.
daveybrat: I agree, this is why I'm perplexed.
watek: I'm sure I did, but I will be checking the drivers just to be absolutely certain.
zeroburrito: Yeah I could possibly push mine further but I'm trying to step it up to remain stable. Regardless, it should still not be scoring 6000 in 3dMark at 3.2Ghz.

You should undoubtably be at atleast 9000. That's weird.

Is it 4x1gb ram sticks? If so, try it with 2x1gb.

And you can never rule out the power supply... could be a lemon.

you do not seem to have a base line before over clocking everything, you could put things back to stock, pull out 2 sticks of memory if you have 4x1,
run orthos blend 4hrs, and check that both cores are at 100%
if it looks ok. oc 1 item at a time.
seems like I was slow posting so to add, something new what video drivers are you running ,could be conflicks, old ati drivers, did you reset bios after adding new card ?

What settings are you running in 3DMark06 (AA and AF as well as the resolution)? The reason is I have very similar components (M2N-SLI Deluxe, X2 6000+, 2GB RAM, EVGA 8800 GT @ 650/950) running XP Pro 32-Bit and my scores are in the 6000s as well if I crank up the AA and AF to the max. If I leave 3DMark at the default values my score is 10808.

Ok well, it's been a bit since my last update, and let's just say things are in the shitter. After looking through all the drivers, seeing that everything was preforming stably and still no improvement on the test scores, my roommates (who are all pretty knowledgeable when it comes to computers) thought that maybe it had something to do with the 64 bit version of windows XP I was running. So I tried putting vista 32 bit on my second identical WD Raptor hard drive, which worked. Vista ran wonderfully, I downloaded all the drivers, but still no dice with 3dmark. I was getting the same exact scores as before. But now I have an even larger problem. It seems that my computer did not like the way I put operating systems on two hard drives or something because upon the next reboot, everything went to hell. Now not only does the XP installer fail to recognize the drives, it also will not let me repartition and wipe them both clean with partition magic. I even tried loading up the linux live cd to try and use that partitioning device, but that did not work either. Right now as far as I can get is the bios. Cheers.

If you want to raise your 3dmark scores get a faster CPU. It seems that the "graphics" score on 3dmark is largely cpu dependant.
If you want to get better GAMING performance, get a better video card, as games are largely GPU bound...
