I'm trying to see if my system is running slow...I ran 3DMark06 and I'm getting 4472 as a score. The online comparison tool shows another guy with a similar config getting around 8K. I'm not sure how to even start figuring out what is slowing me down so much. any thoughts.

WinXP SP2 fresh install, patched up
Soundblaster Audigy1
eVGA 7800GTX 256MB stock
2GB Value ram no OC
Opteron 170, 2.7GHz OC
3 x 160GB SATA (RAID 0)
ASUS A8N-E Mobo (1013 BIOS)

thanks for the help.

4 sticks of mem? 2t, then, and that slows u a bit...

but i don't think your rig will do 8k without liquid nitrogen cooling class oc'ing on all those parts...

Are you running 7 hard drives? or 3?
Two things I can suggest. See what drivers the guys using getting 8000 points and use them. Don't forget to uninstall all prior drivers with driver cleaner(google it) its free.
Your power supply seems a little weak for your setup. You have alot of drives and case fans. The overclocked cpu dosen't help either. Power supplies wear out after time. There efficiancy drops.

EDIT:My system scores 3300 in 06 and yours should be much faster.

That score seems about right, my x1900xtx with a 3.2ghz e6400 gets 6k. Theres no way a single 7800gtx gets 8k with specs similar to yours.

SO I got CPU-z and here is what the memory is clocked at.

Frequency -- 191MHz
FSB/DRAM -- CPU/14
CAS Lat --2.5
RAS to CAS -- 3
precharge -- 3
Cycle time tras -- 7
bank cycle Trc -- 10
Command Rate -- 2T
DRAM idle -- 16

I have 7 drives, but I'm only running 6 at a time. the 2 IDE drives, 3 SATA in RAID 0 and 1 SATA stand alone.

the CPU is clocked as follows:
Speed 2683MHz
Multi -- 9x
Bus -- 298.1 MHz
HT -- 894 MHz

ur score is about right. shabby about summed it up.

at best u'll hit 5kish after some heavy heavy overclocking maaaybe.

no way u'll hit 8k w/o hardware upgrades.

yeah. the 7800 should get around 4k. 06 puts alot on GPU and not so much on CPU OC.
I have a 7950GT OCed and i still only get about 7k.

video card definitely. 3dmark06 is brutal on machines in relation to scoring. My machine gets 8,612 in 3dmark06, and 41,296 in 3dmark01.

thanks guys. That's all I need to know. I'm not going for the fastest of the fast...I'm just trying to make sure my system is running about right...which it sounds like it is.

thanks.
