3dmark06 Resolution...Kinda Wierd.

I have a 19 wide screen lcd monitor. I recently installed 3dmark06 on my computer and when I want to run it at the "default" resolution I can't. This has happened to me before but unfortunately it been a while since so I don't remember how I fixed it last time. If anyone can help please do. Thanks

If you're using the free version, you can only use the default resolution(1280*1024 I believe). If you have the pay for version, then I don't know.

Dumb question but is your monitor 1440x900 or 1280x800? That's all I can think of; since you say you got a workaround last time, I'm guessing there ought to be more to it.

Well it's at 1440 x 900 and regardless whether its the professional or trial version it still does the same thing. I just want to benchmark my 8800GT SLI setup at the standard resolution so I can get an accurate score.

Ah, but your monitor can't run at a resolution higher than 1440x900. You've got the horizontal res but not the vertical res (900 vs. 1024) - I guess your monitor goes blank when you try to run it? Or does 3DMark simply refuse to run/crash?

Well I guess that is probably why. Just wondering how much of a performance hit my card will take when running at 1440 x 900 versus 1280 x 1024. The reason I'm making such a big deal is that 3dmarks default res is at 1280 x 1024 and all tech websites use that standard.

no idea but 1440x900 is (very slightly) less pixel area than 1280x1024, so instead of a performance hit, maybe a tiny boost 🙂
