So I just upgraded, and ran 3dmark06. It seems like the score I got was low for my system.

3DMark06 Score: 3759
SM2.0 Score: 1657
HDR/SM3 Score: 1920
CPU Score: 790

Here are the sys specs:

GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 Conroe 1.86GHz 2M shared L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor
EVGA 512-P2-N635-AR GeForce 7950GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 KO
G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit
Antec NeoPower NeoHE 550 ATX12V 550W Power Supply
Thermaltake SOPRANO VB1000BWS Black 0.8 mm SECC Chassis
Western Digital Caviar SE WD1600JS 160GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s (2)
LITE-ON Black 18X DVD Burner (2)

Nothing is overclocked yet and I just have the factory heat sink on, though that will be remedied shortly.

Is this a low score for this system? I can't find any good online tables that show systems vs scores. Can anyone help me?

Defaults, 1.1, basic? Then yes ? should be around 5k+ in xp. Submit your score to fm (or use orb) to make comparison. Check drivers. If using vista - just disregard.

I patched it to 1.1, ran it again to make sure and this time got 3715. I am pretty sure I've got the latest drivers, but I didn't think that made much difference. And yeah, running XP with SP2. I got the comparisons on fm's site and compared to 11 "similar machines" (didn't give specs so I don't know how similar) I have the lowest score at 3715, with the highest score being around 5400 i think. Could my cpu be limiting itself?

Hmm. Use msinfo/everest or similar to check hw config. Update d3d. Check/disable residents/processes. Configure drivers to use application-controlled settings. Use other benches to check CPU/memory performance.

check your Direct X too. If your using the standard Direct X that comes with XP (8.0) than upgrade to 10 :)

Sometimes Nvidia drivers get confused when upgrading a GFX card so it's best to uninstall, reboot, then install the latest drivers from scratch. Make sure AA is turned off in the display settings tab.
