okay, you may have flashed the bios incorrectly or with the wrong bios, after doing some checking on the info it reported to PC Wizard.

# Completely remove NVIDIA display driver from Add/Remove programs
# Restart PC

that's the BIOS for the 8800 GT only, from EVGA.
 

It is a fairy common issue with some older PCIe x16 slots (depending on the revision - 1.1 should not have a problem) and their incompatibility with the PCIe 2.0 standard on the new G92 Video Cards.

His 7950GT has a PCIe x16 bus and it is working properly.

The BIOS update should correct the issue, but sometimes a new motherboard might be needed.
 
Geek, updated BIOS and didn't help.
Rob, I flashed the GPU a couple hours ago, didn't help.

Geek, my board is revision 2.0. Not sure if that's what you mean though.

what mobo are you running now? this is what you're supposedly running.

Contact Gigabyte about the issue - I recall people having same "single lane" issues with certain Gigabyte motherboards.

I'll try to find a link to this thread - I remember it was in November, right here at AT.

The new G92 use the newly developed/introduced standard for the PCI Express - 2.0.

It has nothing to do with the motherboard revision.
 
I get x16 when I put my 7950GT in.

Also, with the 8800: When I boot up, it gives me a few fast beeps. I have to press restart (NOT Power Off) to get any picture.

So, I guess I need to send back the eVGA?
 
Narrowed it down to a faulty card, posted this on eVGA site:

After thinking a moment, it has to be the card.

I had an XFX 8800 that I had to RMA, because it was LOCKED at 100% fan speed and was ear-bleeding loud.

That 8800 was in my #2 PC. It booted fine.
In my #2 PC with this eVGA card, it beeps 9 times and does nothing.
Also on #1 PC, it screams a moment. If I restart the PC, it works. but in x1 mode.
The 7950GT works in x16 mode on #1 PC.
So, I don't know if the XFX worked in x16 mode, but I know it worked.. whereas this one causes 9 beeps and I never get video.

Guess I have to go pay for ERMA and wait for my new card to get here, after paying 1-day shipping.

I'd double check the motherboard BIOS, and are you sure you flashed the video card with the right bios?
I've had a few issues with the mob and that exact model of card. sometimes it was the power and sometimes the card slot setting were in correct, and like i posted a few people have been told via Nvidia that the card is getting power sooner that expected and throws the boot cycle off, which would explain the beeps and you having to restart.
