3dmark won't run

When I try to run 3dmark03, I get a small error window that says "direct3d initialization failed". Any ideas what this is? I have the latest catalyst 5.3 drivers for my x800xl and I have DirectX9.0c as well.
 
try reinstall 3dmark....if that doesnt do it, uninstall and clear the 3dmark stuff from the registry, then reisntall....if that doesnt fix it, i dunno
 
yeah, could be anything... bad directx, bad driver, RAM problems... you name it.
you gotta start checking one at a time. I know I didn't help much, but I also had a bunch of problem with installing 3dmark03, and it took me like 4 days to get it to work.
good news is that I finally did...
