just built my new system... my specs are in my sig... is this a good score on 3dmark05???



i got: 3939

That's a pretty good score, I thought it would be slightly higher with that Video card though, maybe around 5000.
 
It does seem a bit low to me. I have seen a couple with 3500+'s and 6800 gt scoring over 5000 IIRC. The x800xt should compete well with the 6800gt. Have you installed all the latest drivers and such? Are you doing any overclocking/softmodding/etc.?

Anyway, start playing some real games and get a real feel for the system's performance. A synthesized benchmark doesn't really tell you how good your system is, just how good it is at that particualr benchmark.
 
Got v-sync OFF? Got latest Catalyst drivers? Its a good score YES, but for your sys its on the low side. V-sync enabled reaks havoc on 3d benches. What guapo said, dont be too concerned with these scores. Play your games and see how it performs as that will be the REAL test 🙂
 
yeah... i thought it was low so thats why i asked....

on doom 3 i get almost no frame lag at all with 1290x1024, 4xAA, ultra quality so... farcry same.... havent tried hl2 yet cause my internets been so slow lately and its taken so long to load on steam....
 
im just kinda dissapointed that i just spent 2000 dollars on building a new system and now its not giving me all the speed i should get...

did i do something wrong in the build??
 
LOL don't fret it! I wouldn't know if you did something wrong, but again if your games and other apps perform well, why worry about a bench score? Did you check on the V-sync? Are you running the free patched version of 3d05?
 
3DMark is a boring game. Don't worry about it if everything else is OK; do check, though, that the Vsync option is off, your driver install wasn't messed up, etc.
 
I get right around 5000 with my system, with the 3200 running at 2.4GHz and the 6800GT clocked to 390. I would think they'd be more neck in neck.
 
my drivers are catalyst 4.08.... is there a newer one??


and i didnt get the hotfix.... could that make my scores lower??
 
i think that score is definitely low. i ran '05 a week or so ago and i think, i know i got over 4500 with a p4 2.4c @ 2.7. i actually think it was just over 5000 but i might be wrong, i ran it a few times at different cpu speeds, not overclocking the card. i haven't run it lately as i only ran it to make sure everything was cool after putting in my 6800gt. my '03 mark is 11,200 range if that helps. i hate watching that '05 its painful 😛.

4.12 is out lol. Go get em and DISABLE your AV! when dnld'ing and installing. Run 3d05 after and you should see quite a boost 😉 Get the latest patch as well for 3d05 at futuremarks website. G-Luck.
 
ok thanks guys... i downloaded the driver... but when i got it i did something sooooooo F***ing stupid... i put the x800xt to a higher res then my lcd can display and now all the screen says is out of range and ive tried everything.... damn i am a dumbass...

please help... what to do because i want to see some boosts in my 3dmarks 😉

and i want to go waste my life on hl2 🙂

Reboot in Safe Mode and your monitor should revert to either 800x600 or 640x480. Reboot and then you should be set.
 
ok, im an idiot... i just built a PC but i cant get it too start HAHA!!

anyway, i cant get it to go to safemode on startup...???

Reboot and jam repeatedly on F8 before Windows loads and select Safe Mode from the menu that comes up.
 
made it into safe mode but... i changed the res on the vid card in ATI catalyst... i cant open the catalyst in safemode... so when i restart after safe mode it does the same thing.....

i really need to get this on 😉... ive already switched it off from the power button about 5 times
 
could just take the x800 out for a while, and use the onboard (unless there is none, in which case a diff video card) and set resolution like that.

btw i get about 5000 with my pc, yours should be about same, :S get 4.12 drivers they are alot better for hl2 particularly.. and umm.. you did install chipset drivers?
 
dont have onboard vid... and the only vid card i got lyin around are agp... im in safe my mode on my other pc now... but icant set the x800 to 1290x1024 cause safe mode sucks and is too safe!!!! please anymore suggestions??
