3dmark scores too high?

I just built a system for someone, and the specs are as follows:

A64 3200+
9800 Pro
1gb XMS PC400
2 x 120gb WD SATA in Raid 0
MSI K8T Neo2
Cat 4.2


With this system, I'm getting 20500 in 3dmark. No overclocking or anything. Is that normal? I mean, I've only seen people score that high with a 4ghz P4 and an 9800XT. Am I cheating somehow and I don't know it?? or do I just build computers THAT good 🙂

i get 20757 with my p4 3.0 @ 3.5 so yours seems about right.

scores look right, that A64 is a hell of a cpu, and 3dmark2001 is more of a test of your cpu than your graphics card.... btw, that is one nice computer you built

should try benchmarking on a 3DMark 2003 and see what you get.
Then you will know if the CPU is making the difference or not in 3dmark 01.

Score sounds right on target. Top of the line gpu + top of the line cpu = kickass score

I just was blown away when I saw that because I get like 15500 with my 9700 Pro, and my 2800+ at 2.31ghz.

Yeah that computer is pretty amazing...it's got an 8xdvd burner, Audigy 2 ZS with the live drive, Logitech Z-680 speakers (280 bones :Q)...came out to a total of around 1900 without a monitor, keyboard or mouse. Lets just say this kid is pretty well off :disgust:.
