requirements are definitely higher, damn i need to upgrade 😛
Futuremark has started a countdown for the launch of their new benchmark utility 3DMark03 that contains DX9 test. Along with the countdown they are releasing a hint a day about the product. Here is today's fact:

Minimum Graphics Card Requirement:
DirectX®9.0 compatible graphics adapter that has 32MB of memory and is fully DirectX®7.0 compliant.

Minimum CPU Recommendation:
1000MHz x86 compatible processor (PCMark2002 CPU score of over 2500)

Check out the countdown at Futuremark. Thanks goes to [[LuCkY]] for emailing me about it and calcuating that it will be released in 5 days.

today's hint 2-7

few more hints where dropped
file size is 177 MB for starters!!!

It's still under NDA but you can expect your system to really be brougyht to the ground.

Having said that you should like the graphics, 🙂

Adul what kind of score in your opinion do you think people with the ATI 9700 pro at default speeds, really fast processor at default speeds , fast ram at default speeds, etc will get? Just a guess thats all. Also what kind of score do you think people will get with a overclocked ATI 9700 pro, overclocked really fast processor, and overclocked really fast ram?

Adul even though the GF4 ti series and ATI 8500 does not support DX9 it will still beable to run this 3dmark correct or no?

Thanks.

Thanks.

you just need a card that supports directx 7 or later. i am sure some benchmarks will not be shown on older cards due to the lack of support.

My guess is the 4 - 5k range 😛

I like Demo Benchies... I hope they put some AquaNox in it. I loved that demo.

For the question will it work of older hardware... the tests are designed to test specific hardware capabilities.
So, If you card doesnt have a capability .. that specific test is skipped.
Just like it works now.

Thanks for the heads up, Adul!

WOW... only 1 test is DX7 compatible!

Hopefully games follow this same pattern, requiring LAST GEN HARDWARE to run!😛

side note: why cant the test run in some kind of emulation mode (I know it will be horribly slow, but still, it would become a more system oriented test eh?)

I'm up for some new eye candy with 3dmark03, and i guess 3dmark01se is getting a little long in the tooth, but i fear all the new "look at my crazy 3dmark score!" threads that will be served up in the coming months!😉

I think nVidia payed them off so they were forced to use DX9 😛

Let me get this straight, you must have a DX9 Supporting card to run 3dmark?

Yes, you need a video card that supports DX9... meaning it has DX9 drivers. The card has to be DX7 compliant... meaning the card supports the main DX7 features in hardware (DOT3 and T&L being most notable).

I hope they don't release this on like 3 servers making it impossible to download for a week.

By my calculations of thier countdown (which transposes of a 5 second third digit variable) there is roughly 147 minutes to go, give or take.

I'm guessing 12PM CST.

I don't know where you've got 147m from.. though you did the calculations and I'm just guessing from watching the counter for the past few minutes and counting time 😉
