I installed 3Dmark 2003 on my friends computer (dx 8.1) and it's giving him an error that says "Cannot find Direct3D DLL"

any ideas?? Thanks :)

Same as my system... DX 8.1, Windows 2k except his video board is a GF MX 420...

I have 8.1 and 2k and my computer runs fine

no you don't.

First Question in the FAQ's

Q: If I try to run 3DMark03 without DirectX9.0, I get some error about some missing "DLL". Why is this?
A: The installer checks your DirectX version, and gives you an error message if you have any older version installed. However, it still lets you install 3DMark03. 3DMark03 does check that all the needed resources and features are correctly installed when benchmarking, so you can not run the benchmark without having DX9.0 installed.

DxDiag says i have 8.1 Installed, and I got a 805 on my benchmark, so it does work.

Regardless, I bet if you put DX9 on your friends pc WILL work. Why don't you just put it on instead of trying to use DX8.1?

Cause I installed DX9 and it slowed down my system, and I uninstalled it using DX Buster. That maybe why it still works, that's wierd... I'll tell him to install DX9. Thanks for everyone's help :)
