3Dmark 2001

Uhhhhhhhh yeah it will give you basically a good estimate on how fast your machine is. keyword: estimate.

umm it's a good score for a mid-range system ...

EDIT: You May wanna edit your "rig sig", anyways I assume this link refers to your system.

http://www.anandtech.com/mysystemrig.html?rigid=26580

Here's a 3DMark01 SE compare link with my old AXP 2400+/Radeon 9800/VIA KT400 @ stock (almost simialar specs). It's about less than 100 points lower than 12747 but the upped FSB of the Barton & faster nForce2 chipset should net you around the mid 13-14K range assuming everything based on that link above is @ stock.

He has a Barton 2500 and e Radeon 9700pro. I tried mine with the same, but the Barton is running at 2126 mhz and I just got 15,641, and the video card is most of that, so I think his score is a little slow. Maybe I will go to stock, and try again ???

I screwed up and edited my post, I think he has a 9700pro. Anyway, I downclocked my 2500 barton to stock, and got 14,124 while at 3200+ (almost) speed, I got 15,641, so I think these are low.

pretty low. a system like that should be getting around 14k or more.

altho 9700 Pro's are not very 3dmark friendly 😉. my friend used to have his sapphire 9700 pro hooked up to the 2.4B + albatron MB which i bought off him, scored 13k stock

i popped a ti4200 the same P4 2.4B / Albatron combo and can get around 12k (CPU and GPU @ stock speeds) naturally he was quite supprised.

I used to get about 16,000 with my old setup (2400+ at 2700+ speeds) with a 9800 Pro. Make Sure AA and AF is turned off.

thats too low.

my rig
2.2 tbredB
1gigram
4200 at 290/290 omega 43.45
nf2 abit board

i get barely at 13000. you should be scoring higher than me for sure

dude, my P4 1.5 with a 4200 can score 8500... 😕 2.6B with 4600 getting only 8500 means there's something wrong big time.

Yeah that's what I was thinking for a while.. but like I said my games run well. Farcry demo looks good in 10x7 high-v.high settings, which is about as good or better than what most people with 4x00 cards are reporting, for example. I'm using the latest drivers, think I should downgrade to 43.45 & try?

yes. i don't really know why people with NV2x cards use 5x.xx drivers. in theory it should improve performance. in *theory* 😕

I used to play 2 everquest accounts on my machine at once, the 5xxx drivers did a much better job of it than the 4's.. gunna clean my drivers and install 43.45, see if my scores improve. I don't play EQ anymore, anyway

hmm, come to think of it, have you installed the MB's chipset drivers? some unusually low scores thrown around, guruk, do you have yours installed? that's the only logical thing i can think of which would make such a big difference.

As for the lower than expected score when you were testing, were all of your settings say in the video card's properties under the 3D tab set to "Application Preference" for AA and AF and everything else e.g. Mipmap Detail, VSync, Texture, etc. set all the way to the left?

Yep

Wow, that was it, installed the chipset drivers & got 11,148. Thanks for the tip, guess I have much to learn
